Basic Character Info

Character's LJ Username: compensatinggun
Name: Fabio Candela(Formally addressed as: Don Fabio degli Candeli (Otherwise known as: Sir Fabio of the Candelas.))
Age: Thirty-three (33)
Gender: Male.
Nationality : Italian.
Mafia Family: Vongola.
Main Flame Attribute: Sky.
Secondary Flame Attribute/s: None.
Weapon of Choice: Guns.
Secondary Weapon: None.
Special Abilities: Considering that Fabio Is known to have the weakest flame of his predecessors such an embarrassment was not allowed, in his opinion. And to make up for it, Fabio spent countless years thinking, planning, and creating fail prototypes, until finally he invented the first operational Dying Will Gun. The schematics of this new wonder were clearly for no one else to know, but Fabio- the prime user of said weapon.

The main weapon channeled Candela’s weak flame until it reached a certain max point, so when the trigger was pulled his shot was noticeably more powerful. Along with his new invention, he managed to use the Dying Will Bullets to store his flames and use them as ammo to accompany his Dying Will Gun. Though, the gun itself was not fully perfected- flawed in some areas, it did serve its purpose in compensating Fabio’s below average flame. The allotted time, being one of the defects, for his flames to fully charge the gun so it had maximum effect was 2.5 minutes more than he cared for. Aside from time, depending on the usage, certain parts of the DWG would have to be replaced. (Which, he was never too pleased about when that time would come.)

Appearance: Fabio, like his hat, is a tall man standing at 6’6”. Hair, much like his eyes are a deep mahogany. Crows’ feet soon becoming apparent on his face; though it’s due to keeping a permanent squinty glare, rather than smiling his years away. Another noticeable feature is his mustache. Which Fabio makes it a point to twist the ends until they’re fine and a certain C-shape. (Secretly enjoys looking like a villain-tying women to railroad tracks.)

Clothing: It doesn’t matter if he’s indoors and has no plans on leaving the comforts of home, Fabio is always dressed in an Italian dark suit; His ties the only color to differentiate between days. And when he does go out, you’re sure to spot him with his favorite black top hat.

In-Depth Character Info

Personality: Fabio Candela is not sure how to express any other emotion other than anger, fury, rage, so forth. Which is why his features have become permanently frozen into that squinty glare and a smile is rare coming from this man. It doesn’t mean that he is unable to laugh, nor that he is void of a sense of humor (He has one, it’s just not obvious.), but when such a rarity does happen, the cemented lines hardly change. The only difference, which his young daughter, Daniela would be able to spot, is that his eyes soften during the boisterous laughter.

That aside, Candela is not an easy man to get along with. When he’s not challenging you to an arm wrestling match (or whatever the challenge for the day may be), he’ll be focusing on his work or out growing beans in his small garden. Strange, yes, but while his life as the Settimo obligates him to appear in an intimidating matter, it doesn’t always apply to his home life/hobbies.

Fabio will never admit to being wrong, if anything you’re the one wrong and too stubborn to come to terms with it. Settimo is not a man to explain fully what he means, nor is he one to enjoy repeating that which was obvious the first time around. He’s merciless and unyielding, a man not to take lightly considering he’s more than likely preparing the DWG for your death; should the moment call for it. Gather these characteristics together and it’s obvious that Candela is also not a very trusting man.

History:
During his upbringing, Fabio’s Italy was at the height of the capture and tearing down of the mafia world; Otherwise known as Cosa Nostra. As a small child he witnessed the captures of neighboring families and heard of the deaths that followed those imprisonments. The chaos threatened to tear down his world, one that he was to be a part of. With the normalcy of territorial fights between rival families, there was an outside force that continued to bang on the mysterious underground doors. As a child, Fabio knew how much the Italian government planned on making Cosa Nostra extinct. So, he made it a point to stop them once he had the opportunity. Thus making his promise to devote himself the family and putting it above everything else. (Which only lead to the making of the Mafioso commandments.)

Seeing as Cosa Nostra was not defeated by those pompous idiots, Fabio came to be initiated into the Vongola family as their Settimo in 1901. It wasn’t long after this that the carefree, squinty smiling man came to met Rosa Medichi, a woman of unnatural beauty and grace-and a mere beggar on the streets of Sicily. For Fabio, a man who had never given women a second glance, because of his inner promise to never marry and deal with those annoying brats. Along with his personality to be too self involved with the mafia…-

It was instant adoration, love even. Rosa was to be his wife. No other man was to have her and no one did. He was quick to make Rosa his wife, taking her off the cold, unsafe Sicilian streets, only to bring her into the world of mafia. (The annoying brats were soon to follow :/)

Now, though he was married and had started a family it didn’t mean that Candela was ignorant of his first family. It came to be known that Candela formally established the Ten Commandments for his guardians, along with having each of them take the code of silence. Omerta. Which forbids them to ever betray the family, should that ever happen not only was the person’s life in danger, but their family as well; Swift death to all with no mercy for such a backstabbing move. This only comes to show how little trust he had on his guardians in the beginning and it’s possible that even with all of this, Fabio secretly, never fully trusted anyone, but her.

Settimo and Rosa raised their children together in a quiet villa just south of Sicily. Even though Fabio would be away constantly he always made sure they were taken care of, highest of security and by that the guardians he trusted enough (76.2% of his trust to be exact). So, for the tragedy to befall the serene Candela home was unheard of… until that day. Called away to handle a meddlesome rival mafia don, Fabio gave his wife and children one last goodbye. It was the last time her ever saw the wonderful glow of his precious Rosa and that last time the children ever witnessed a pure smile from their father.

“Take care of them, Venicio.” Were always the last words he’d leave his Thunder Guardian.

“I always do, Don Candela.” Was always his reply. One would never have thought that he would fail to protect all of them.

The night that Fabio’s presence was gone from the villa, it became raided by the enemies of Vongola. The only casualty was Rosa Medichi, the wielder of Fabio’s heart. Who, despite the orders from Venicio to leave and take the children through the many hidden passages of the house, stayed put.

Upon hearing the news, which reached him fairly quickly, dispelled his anger on the rival don. He left no one in the small town alive, including the women and children. His blind fury and grief clouded and cemented his heart to a close, changing the once carefree man, to become an empty rueful, unforgiving boss and father. He returned a different man to his young sons and daughter, who painfully resembled his Rosa so much; it was torture to be near her. Candela along with his guardians, were the only ones to attend Rosa’s funeral. He made it so no one else witnessed the burial of his goddess who took with her his heart. Soon after this, Candela raised his children under strict and unrelenting rules. He didn’t baby them or make it so that their upbringing was easy. He had higher expectations of them and would accept no excuses.

Canon Point: Returning from his Rosa’s funeral.
