"I really cannot believe you are making me wear this, Quinn."
Rachel stared back at her reflection. The tiny red dress she was wearing did a fantastic job of showcasing her long, tan legs. And she had to admit, her breasts were noticeable, but in an innocent way. But it was very rare for Rachel Berry to step out decked out like this. Especially when there weren't going to be any boys there to impress. Especially Noah Puckerman.
Quinn grinned behind her, as she slipped into the light blue summer dress she bought just for the event. "You know you look smokin' hot and I know that deep down inside, you want Puck to eat his heart out."
Rachel narrowed her eyes in Quinn's direction, but the sides of lips twitched up. Damn Quinn for knowing her every thought. "I refuse to admit it, so all I will say is you may be on the right track."
"I still can't believe he cornered you today at practice. Like after the way he treated everyone in high school, you'd figure he would just ignore you." She walked over and sat down next to Rachel on the bed. "I wonder if-"
But Rachel was too quick and cut her off. "Let's not wonder anything. My life is fine without Puck and I would like to keep it that way."
Quinn grinned knowingly at her friend and sighed. "Fine. Do you mind if I borrow your lucky silver barette? I am so nervous for tonight and that thing has gotten me through so much."
"Of course!" Rachel got up from the bed and walked over to her dresser. She grabbed the barette from the jewelry box it was in and glanced over at the photo frame next to it. It was a picture of the Glee club from senior year. It had been such a long time since she had seen anyone from there, except for Quinn of course, and Kurt on Karaoke Tuesdays. Everyone else was like a distant memory, and now Finn and Puck were going to be resurfacing. It was a weird change Rachel would just have to adjust to.
She stared too long at Puck's face and pulled herself from the daze. What the hell was going on with her? Sure, she had a mini crush on him back in high school, but that was because for one week, he was being nice to everyone. Some shit about his mom wanted him to find a Jewish girlfriend. Hello, if you looked up the perfect Jewish wife in the dictonary, Rachel's picture would be there, smiling proudly. So Puck decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Then he got over it.
"Earth to Rachel? Do I need to get out your gold stars to bring you back to the world?"
Quinn's voice pulled her back to reality.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about stuff," Rachel explained.
"Yeah, and etching Puck's picture into your brain," Quinn said with a smirk.
Rachel rolled her eyes and handed the barette to her friend. "Let's just get this freaking party over with."
------------------------------------
The apartment building was filled to the max with bodies, and each one had a red plastic cup glued to their hands. Rachel and Quinn exchanged nervous glances with each other before walking into the kitchen, where Finn was to be waiting, according to the texts he sent Quinn. It was apparent he was buzzed because kitchen turned into "kytcvhen".
"Holy shit, Quinn. I am too afraid for you to leave my side. I don't want to get lost in the mass bodies around me," Rachel said with a laugh.
Quinn shot her a look. "Let me just find Finn and I am sure we can go somewhere more secluded. I hope so anyways. Hey, at least it will be hard for you to bump into Puck, which is what you wanted to avoid, right?"
"Of course, Quinn." But, deep down, Rachel wanted to bump into him. Just once. Just once so he could see how hot she looked.
They finally broke their way into the kitchen and found Finn standing next to the counter, pounding down a can of beer. He finished it seconds later and smashed the can against his forehead, letting out a caveman like growl along with it.
Rachel burst out into laughter and Quinn just stood there in complete shock. Finn turned to face them and grinned at them. It was apparent he was drunk off his ass. "Quinnnnnnnnnn! I am so glad you came." He reached down and embraced her into a tight hug, lifting her up and plopping her down on the counter. "Here, you get the best seat in the house."
Quinn just sat there, unsure of what to make of this whole situation. "Uh, thanks."
He grinned proudly, "You're welcome." He glanced over at Rachel, who crossed her arms over her chest, hoping Finn got the point that she didn't want to have the same greeting Quinn had gotten. "Rachel Berry! Fuck man, it's been like .. 6 years. How the hell are you?", he asked, the words slurring together.
Even if Rachel tried to explain her life the past couple years, Finn wouldn't understand it, let alone retain it. So why not have a little fun?
"Oh I went mountain climbing in Colorado and deep-sea fishing in Alaska. I also had lunch with the president and made out with Zac Efron at a movie premiere." She grinned at him, and watched as Quinn tried to stifle her laughter.
Finn stared at her wide-eyed. "You met the president? Holy shit, boys, boys, Rachel here met George Washington!"
That was just too much. Rachel and Quinn, in unison, broke out into laughter. The laughing had a quick effect on her bladder. "Oh my God, Finn, can you explain to me where your bathroom is? I am sure I will have to hop onto the USS Enterprise, which is fine with me. I could use me some Captain Kirk."
Finn smiled, "Gotta love Kirk. Dude was the man. After you get off the ship, make a right down the hallway. Second door on the left. And tell Captain, I said hello!"
Rachel shook her head in disbelief and said thanks. Finn was totally gone, which caused her to feel for Quinn. The girl came here to reconnect and instead has to deal with a guy who is just going to drool over her as he stares at her breasts. Which Quinn might appreicate for a bit.
She followed Finn's directions and turned the knob of the second door on the left. It was unlocked, so she walked right in, flicking the light switch on. That was when she was met the scenery of Noah Puckerman getting a blowjob from some blonde bimbo.
Rachel screamed out in shock and slammed the door shut behind her. But that was after she locked eyes with Puck. The look of surprise in his glossy eyes quickly turned into something else.
She stood there for a few seconds, the door against her back. Did that really just happen? She could hear the shuffling of feet in the bathroom, so Rachel booked out of the area. The last thing she wanted was to relive that situation with Puck. Maybe he didn't even notice it was her.
Of course, that was wishful thinking. The bathroom door swung open with a vengance, and a very intoxicated Puck came strolling out. "Oh Berry, was that you?"
She quickly pushed her way through the crowd, not wanting Puck to run after her. That was way more of Puck then she had ever wanted to see. At least for right now in this moment.
She ran past Quinn and out into the hallway of the apartment, leaning against the cool wall, her purse falling to the ground. That was the last thing she expected to see at this party. It didn't seem like Puck had followed her, so she let out a sigh of relief. Of course, at way too soon a moment.
The apartment door swung open and a haggard Puck came flying into the hallway. Rachel stood there, not quite sure what to say or what to do. He slammed the door behind him and stood right before her, inches of air the only thing seperating them.
"What the fuck, Berry?" His eyes were flashing with anger and it was clear to see how heavily intoxicated he was.
Okay, of all the things Puck could say to her in this moment, it was that? Like it is was her fault he decided to get lucky with the fucking bathroom door unlocked. Serves him right to get walked in on.
"Excuse me?", she spat back at him. Rachel stood up from leaning on the wall and leveled herself with Puck. This gave him the full view of what she was wearing and she watched as his eyes started from her legs and worked there way up. This made her feel smug, but she still was pissed about the accusation. "Puck, up here pervert!"
The word "pervert" snapped him out of his Rachel's legs-induced daze. He glared hard at her again. "Why the hell did you ruin a perfectly good blowjob just now? Are you jealous it wasn't you on your knees?", he asked, a disgusting smirk forming on his lips.
Rachel stared at him, in complete disbelief. She followed her reflexes and slapped Puck right square in the face. "How dare you. We are done here."
She turned around, about to walk into the apartment, but Puck was two steps in front of her. Why was he being an ignornant son of a bitch right now? "Do I need to repeat myself, Puck?" Her big brown eyes were seething with anger.
Puck grinned, "I get under your skin, don't I, Berry?"
Rachel groaned, "Now is not the time, Puck. Why don't you just leave me alone and go get yourself sobered up. Or better yet, go find the skank whose mouth was attached to your dick and see if she is up for round two."
"That's not a bad idea. I think I'll be on my way. But Berry, just so you know, I'll be thinking of you the entire time." He winked and dodged Rachel's hand as she tried to slap him again, rushing into the apartment.
Rachel stared after him, in disbelief of what just happened. Noah Puckerman was officially the biggest sleaze in New York City.
Quinn came rushing out into the hallway, a concerned look strewn across her face. "What just happened between you two? Puck came into the kitchen and called you some serious names I'd rather not repeat."
Rachel rolled her eyes. "Nothing. All you need to know is that Puck is a jerk and I want nothing more to do with him." She reached down and grabbed her purse, throwing her wavy brown locks around her shoulder. "I am leaving, but you should stay. I know how much you wanted to see Finn today."
"No, that's okay. He is completely trashed right now, and I can guarentee that he is just going to pass out in a couple hours." Quinn closed the apartment door behind her and Rachel could see the sadness in her bright green eyes. It pulled at her heart strings.
"What do you say we go grab some sushi at Maryoki's? Your favorite place!", Rachel said, nudging her friends arm.
Quinn's lip broke out into a small smile. Rachel knew what made her best friend happy.
She linked her arms with Quinn's and they walked to the elevator. "Let's go eat some food and complain about how stupid boys can be."
Quinn nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a good plan to me!" And when the elevator doors shut in front of them, they both vowed to forget about the boys who knew just how to play with their emotions.
