Summary: Rachel becomes reunited with Puck after years have gone by, and the angst between them begins.
"Should I read it?", Quinn asked, staring her blinking phone. The text message box showed up, shining Finn's name.
Rachel shrugged, shoving a spoonful of Lucky Charms into her mouth. "It's up to you, Q. I mean, we did make a pact to never speak to Finn Hudson or Noah Puckerman again at the Maryoki's last night."
"Yeah, but technically, Finn didn't do anything wrong! And you are going to have to speak to Puck eventually. He is the stage manager for your freaking play!" Quinn's face was becoming a rosy red, which happened whenever she became seriously frustrated. Rachel tried to hide her smirk, knowing this whole stupid pact was getting on Quinn's nerves. The poor girl had been checking her phone every five minutes since they got home last night, waiting for that apology text.
"Okay, inviting you to a party where he ends up being totally shitfaced is not a problem?"
Quinn releashed her evil eyes on Rachel, which broke her. She burst out into laughter, making Quinn even more mad. "What are you laughing at, Rachel!!"
"Nothing, Q. Read the text." Rachel put her attention back on her Lucky Charms, waiting for the reaction from Quinn.
She watched as the tension released in Quinn's face and smile broke out on her lips. Good, obviously Finn was a professional at apologies. "He said he is so sorry, and to make it up to me, well to us actually, he wants to take us out to dinner tonight."
Rachel grinned, "There you go! Turns out Finn is still an okay guy."
"Yeah, but there is a catch. Puck is going to be there tonight, too. Finn heard about what happened because apparently people was eavesdropping on your little interaction in the hallway. He believes Puck owes you an apology." Quinn bit her lip, knowing Rachel was not going to react well to this.
The spoon fell from Rachel's hand and into the bowl with a loud clang. "Well you can tell Finn that Puck can take that apology and shove it up his ass. I have no interest in hearing his worthless excuse for why he acted the way he did."
Quinn's smile fell. "Please, Rachel. This is my last chance to see if Finn is worth it anymore." She decided to pull her out secret weapon and pouted. This was Rachel's biggest weakness. The puppy dog face of Quinn.
She groaned out loud, making an obvious scene. "Fine, Q. But you owe me big time. And I mean big. Like buying me two new outfits and pairs of shoes to go with them!"
Quinn squealed and ran around to the other side of the counter, embracing Rachel. "I love you! And who knows, maybe Puck will be a gentleman tonight." They looked at each other before bursting out into laughter.
"Psh, who are we kidding? Puck won't know the meaning of a gentleman until hell freezes over," Rachel exclaimed.
"This is true. You know, Finn was telling me that one day I saw him that Puck has never been in a serious relationship? How can you be in your mid-20s and not have any idea what the meaning of love is?" Quinn stated. Rachel saw the wheels turning in her pretty little blonde head and she stood up quickly.
"Oh no, no, no. I will not partake in any thoughts that are reeling in that crazy brain of yours!" Rachel practically ran to her room, but Quinn was on her heels.
She pushed passed Rachel and flopped down onto her bed. "No, hear me out for a second. I'm not asking you to like him or anything. I just want you to make Noah Puckerman fall for you."
And there it was.
Rachel turned and stared at Quinn like she had five heads. Did those words really just come out of her mouth? "Quinn, what the hell are you talking about? Why would I want to make Noah Puckerman, of all the people, to fall for me?"
"Because," she began, a sly smile forming on her face. "It would be fun."

Puck sat at the kitchen counter, waiting for his best friend and roommate, Finn to come out. Count on Finn Hudson to be the good guy and force Puck to go out to dinner in order to apologize to Rachel Berry. What was the point? It's not like he would even mean it. Rachel got what she deserved. Maybe if she learned how to knock on doors before entering, she wouldn't have run into that problem last night.
Although, Puck had to admit, Rachel Berry had definitely turned into a woman. After seeing her at the meeting and then in that smoking hot dress last night, Puck was beginning to view her in a new light. And judging from that rockin' body she had, the girl had to be good in the sack. Especially those legs. Puck wouldn't mind rubbing his hands along those weapons of destruction.
He grinned into the empty kitchen, realizing he just found himself a new goal. He was going to get Rachel Berry into bed with him.
"Alright, you ready to go?", Finn asked as he walked by. He noticed the grin on Puck's face. "What's with the look?"
Puck just shook his head, continuing to smile. "Nothing, bro. Just having a revelation, that's all."
----------------------------------------------
Rachel walked into the restaruant, keeping herself as composed as possible. How Quinn talked her into the backless, black cocktail dress was beyond her belief. But there, she was, in that dress and pair of kitten heels to match. Watch out boys, Rachel Berry was on a mission. A mission to steal Noah Puckerman's heart and put it on a shelf for all the world to see.
The more her and Quinn talked about the idea of stealing Puck's heart, the more Rachel loved the it. Though it was immoral and something Rachel would never do, Puck deserved it. After all the shit he put her through, back in high school and just last night, it served him right. Just like Richard Vernon said in the great classic The Breakfast Club, don't mess with the bull or you'll get the horns.
The boys were already inside, waiting in the rest area for them. Rachel put her best face forward and smiled widely at Finn, embracing him in a quick hug, giving Puck a fantastic view of her backside.
"Hey Finn! I am sure you don't even remember seeing me last night," she smiled at him, glancing sideways at Puck, who seemed a little taken back by Rachel's ensemble.
Finn flushed, still embarrassed by his actions last night. "I'm sorry about how I was. I didn't expect to get so toasted, but it happened."
She laughed lightly, "No worries. Just make sure you make it up to Quinn real nice tonight."
Quinn stared hard at her, but laughed out of awkwardness. "Don't listen to her. She had a glass of wine before we came."
Rachel grinned as Finn pulled Quinn into a tight hug. The two looked so perfect together and Rachel gave it a week before they were officially dating. She finally put her attention on Puck, who seemed to be enjoying the view Rachel was giving him of her body. She cleared her throat, causing him to look up from her legs. "Hi Puck."
He smiled widely at her, and stood up from the leather couch. "Hiya Berry. I see you decided clothing was optional tonight."
It was only a second after he opened that stupid mouth of his and he was already under her skin. "You know, you are much hotter when you keep that mouth of yours shut."
Puck wasn't expecting a comeback like that, but he didn't let it show. "Ooh, Berry thinks I am hot stuff. Good to know," he said with a wink. She rolled her eyes in disgust. "Anyways, I just wanted to apologize for yesterday. I was out of line and pretty damn intoxicated. Let's just say it was all the booze talking."
"Whatever helps you sleep better at night, Puck. There is no need to say you're sorry. You did what you did, and it's in the past. I think it's best if we just move forward and forget it even happened." She tucked her hair behind her ear, and waited for Puck to fight her on it. Instead, he surprised her.
"I agree. I think we got off on the wrong foot. How about we just start over, a clean slate?" He grinned, and Rachel would be lying if she said it didn't stop her heart. "Hi there, the name is Noah Puckerman. But you can call me Puck." He extended his head and Rachel stared at it like it was poisonous.
She shook herself out of the funk and smiled at him, "Well hello there. My name is Rachel Berry." When their hands touched, Rachel knew Puck had felt the spark between them, too. Just from the look in his eyes and how he avoided looking at her again.
The hostess finally called Finn's name and asked the group to follow them to their table. Rachel was surprised once more when Puck placed his hand on her bare back as they walked through the maze of tables to their own. Maybe Rachel had read Puck all wrong from the beginning.
Of course, she thought too soon.
He leaned forward across the table to Finn and nodded his head at the hostess walking away. "Did you see the knockers on that girl? I give her a 10+!"
Rachel rolled her eyes and glanced over at Quinn, who was trying to not laugh at Puck's outburst. How in the hell was she supposed to make that fall in love with her? It seemed like Rachel had her work cut out for her.
----------------------------------------------
Dinner had gone a lot more smoothly then Rachel had expected, even with all the ludicrous innuendos from Puck. The four of them were standing outside of the restaurant, and Rachel could already see from the look on Quinn's face that she would be finding her own way home tonight.
"Rachel, would you mind if I went with Finn to this little nightclub over on Broadway? I mean, you and Puck are more then welcome to come if you want." Quinn's mouth might have been saying that, but her eyes were pleading the exact opposite. The two love birds couldn't tear their eyes off one another at dinner, so how could Rachel not grant her best friend a more private night with Finn.
Rachel smirked, catching on automatically. "I am gonna head home actually. I have a meeting with the cast director tomorrow morning, so I gotta get my rest!"
Puck cleared his throat, knowing very well there was no meeting and followed Rachel's lead. "Yeah, I got the same thing. Gotta ya know, talk to the directors and stuff." Rachel rolled her eyes at Puck's not so stealth lie.
"Aw, well you know, work comes first. It was good to see you again, Puck! And Rachel, I'll see you at the apartment. Don't wait up for me!", Quinn said with a wink. Rachel smiled as Finn's hand intertwined with Quinn's; the two were a perfect fit.
Rachel turned to see Puck standing behind her, a lewd grin on his face. "What?", she asked sharply.
"Nothing, nothing. It's just that, here we are, alone on the street in the city, after a delicious meal. I'm thinking me and you should find a way to burn it off." The way Puck was looking at her made her heart drop. He should not be causing these things to happen.
She stared hard at him, hoping he couldn't notice how conflicted he made her feel. "In your dreams, Puck."
"Oh, don't worry, Berry. You are always the star of my naughty dreams. I just hope that if I wish hard enough, maybe one day they will come true." He grinned and moved closer to her, reaching out to touch her arm.
Rachel batted his hand away and tried hard not smile, but couldn't help it. The boys pick-up lines were one of a kind. "Puck, it's not gonna happen. How about you just walk me home?"
"Will I get a kiss at the doorstep?"
Jesus Christ, he was relentless. "You know what, I think I'll make it by myself." She turned on her kitten heels and began to walk down to her apartment. She grinned when she felt his presence at her side instantly. At least he didn't give up and let her go her own way.
"Berry, are you crazy? I am not letting you walk home in this outfit in the city on a Saturday night. Do you know what kind of hooligans are out there?", he said to her, serious face and all.
She looked up at him, surprised. Who would have thought Puck had a caring bone in that high sexual drive, big headed interior of his? "Yeah, I'm walking next to one right now."
Rachel's breath caught in her throat at the smile that just graced his face. It could light up a million cities, it was so bright. "Whoa, Berry's got jokes! But seriously, it's not safe out there. You need a tough guy to make sure you get home safely, and you know, it would be in your best interest if you rewarded him. Sexually, of course," Puck said, wiggling his eyebrows.
And he was back.
"You know what, I completely agree with you!"
Puck's eyes grew wide, the smile growing wider. "Good, I am glad you see things my way."
"Too bad I don't have a tough guy walking me home. Oh well, maybe next time," Rachel stated, letting out a loud sigh for effect.
Puck stared at her in fake shock, seeing the game she was playing. "Are you trying to say that you are questioning my badassness?"
Rachel burst out into laughter and had to stop in the middle of the busy sidewalk to compose herself. "You did not just say badassness. But yes, I am questioning it."
"What do I have to do to prove to you that I am serious, one of a kind badass?" Puck stood before her, and underneath the light from the lamp post, Rachel could seeing the gold specks in his eyes dancing around mischievously.
"I don't know, Puck. Go stop a taxi cab, jump on top of it and yell to all of New York City that you are the biggest badass they will meet in their lives," Rachel said, throwing out the first thing came to her mind. It was a crazy idea and she knew Puck wouldn't go through with it.
But of course, she was wrong. Puck nodded his head and grabbed Rachel's hand, catching her off guard. She hated the sparks that ignited her skin when their hands met. She was not supposed to feel those types of things from Puck. She watched as he threw his free hand in his mouth, whistling at one of the taxis to stop.
Rachel watched in awe as Puck did everything she said, and she laughed harder then she ever did in her entire life when the cab driver jumped out of his car to scold Puck. It was hard to understand anything he was saying through the thick accent, but they got the idea and rushed down the sidewalk. Some of the onlookers gave them crazy looks while others rooted Puck on.
"Was that enough proof for you, Berry?" He was grinning from ear to ear as they approached her apartment.
She rolled her eyes, but smiled. "Yeah Puck, it was enough proof. Well, this is my stop. Thank you for the walk home and for not being to unbearable at dinner. I'll see you around at work!"
Rachel turned to go into her apartment, but Puck grabbed her arm, pulling her back. "You promised a reward, don't you remember?" Rachel groaned inwardly, knowing she owed him at least something. She leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss on lips, ignoring the feeling in her stomach when she did so.
"There is your reward. Good night, Puck." And with that, she turned her back on Puck and one of the funnest nights she ever had.
