Personality:
Rika presents herself as friendly and cute, and often uses silly phrases that have no meaning or demonstrate sound effects. Although she may often act oblivious, it is quite obvious that Rika is very intelligent and perceptive of the events going on around her. She often likes to pat others on the head, whether it is as a friendly gesture or to comfort. Rika presents herself as very kind and even sly at times.
However, as innocent as Rika seems, she often hides the truth from those around her so as not to frighten her friends, and for fear that no one will believe her. Due to the continuous time loops, Rika’s mind has matured while her body has not. However, she does not often present this side of herself, unless she is under great emotional stress or trying to scare someone. She also presents her true side when she feels it necessary, according to the situation.
Throughout the years, Rika lost hope of ever being able to create a world that would finally be able to continue on in peace; one where she would survive. For hundreds of years, Rika has repeated her life over and over again, hoping that things would change. After so many years, Rika began to lose hope, just idly watching as the ones she loved around her began to go insane, thinking that there was nothing that she could do.
However, Keiichi is able to change the perception that her efforts are worthless by convincing her that fate can be changed just by one willing it to, and he demonstrates his belief time and time again.. This completely changed Rika’s attitude and gave her hope, and it strengthened her belief in herself and her friends even until her death.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Rika is quite intelligent, although she does not often show it. However, she does let on that she knows more than she should about many things, which often confuses those around her. Many people are drawn to Rika, as she is very friendly and willing to offer her opinion and go out of her way to help others when they are suffering. Even though Rika may be young and quite small, she has a presence that others acknowledge, and those around her respect her greatly.
However, Rika is not very strong and she is not able to defend herself. This requires her to rely on other’s strength, much to her disdain. Rika’s major flaw is her cynicism, which has led her to lose all hope towards a happy future for herself and her friends. She rarely shows her cynical side, though, but that trait always exists within her, threatening her happiness. Although Rika trusts her friends and those around her, she does not believe that they have any faith in her, which leads her to think that her friends would not believe the truth when she tells them and this has led to many failures in the past. Rika’s greatest fear is that she will lose those that she loves the most, and that she will fail in protecting them in the end.

First Person Sample:
W-where am I? This doesn’t look like Hinamizawa at all. Actually, I don’t think this place is anywhere close to Hinamizawa. Everything seems so different.
…Hanyuu? Are you there? Can you hear me? This can’t be happening. Just what is going on? I have to calm down; I can’t let myself get flustered here. I have to fully understand my situation before I can take any sort of action. So far it seems that I have to catch these Pokémon.
Mii…I seemed to have received a Vulpix. It looks like we will have many fun adventures!
Let us fight on, Vulpix!
Third Person Sample:
Rika stared at her pokédex. She had never seen anything like it, as technology was not prevalent in Hinamizawa. Her eyes flicked from the device to the Pokémon sitting in front of her several times before fixing onto the Pokémon. According to the pokédex, this was a Vulpix. In response to her gaze, the Vulpix tilted its head slightly, its eyes conveying curiosity and slight distrust.
Noticing this, Rika placed her palm on the Pokémon’s head, smiling as she did so. The Vulpix neither moved away from the touch nor acknowledged it. “You need to smile!” Rika said, her smile turning into a grin. “Like this! Nipaa!” However, the expression in the Vulpix’s eyes only grew more curious.
Rika frowned. “You see right through me, don’t you?” she asked the small Pokémon, smiling bitterly when she received a knowing gaze from the Vulpix. “It seems as if we were meant to meet after all,” Rika commented, patting the Vulpix on the head again. This time, the Vulpix leaned into the pat, its approval of Rika apparent.
“Well, Vulpix, let’s go on our adventure now!” Rika exclaimed, a large grin breaking out onto her face as she turned her attention back towards the road that seemed to stretch a far distance.
After only a few steps, Rika began to feel heavily weighed down by her stress. She plopped down on the side of the road, where it was just beginning to turn into grass. Her Vulpix soon followed suit, staring up at Rika carefully. Rika smiled, patting the Vulpix’s head. “We will begin our adventure soon!” she said as she smiled.
However, her smile faded quickly, and Rika looked up towards the sky. From what she was able to gather by observing her surroundings, she was nowhere near Hinamizawa. This deeply troubled her, and she wondered if something had gone wrong with Hanyuu’s reset. Rika sighed, as the thought was absurd since Hanyuu had never made a mistake along those lines and was likely to never do so. Then, just how did she end up here? Even though the idea of training Pokémon puzzled her slightly, she was much more concerned with where she was. As concerned as she was though, there was nothing Rika could do.
Rika decided to make the best of her current situation and start her adventure with capturing Pokémon. After all, it could be fun. The thought renewed Rika’s energy, and she pet her Vulpix’s head once again before she stood up and walked side by side with Vulpix down the road.
