The library here is much larger than Dame Olga's outdated collection at home, and there's so much I haven't read yet. But my favorite, as always, are the fairy tales.

So I have a question, if you'd like to comply.

What is your favorite fairy tale?

[She looks up and there is maybe a hint of a smile. Just maybe.]

And why is that?

[But Ella's doing her best to try and be stiff. She is supposed to be cross with Char, after all.]

Because it didn't involve any princes getting married to maidens who fall asleep or spend most of their time with dwarves.

[And he smirks]

Oh, and I rather think that the wolf got what he deserved.

Dwarves are probably charming. I'd like to meet one.

Well, of course he did.

Cinderella.

My mom always told us the Brothers Grimm versions. That was the only one that wasn't nasty some way.

I mean, except for the toe-cutting and blinding.

Cinderella. I don't think I've ever heard that one.

That's two people who have mentioned Cinderella now. Is it a popular fairy tale in this world?

It should be. She was pretty awesome. They need to make a sequel to her story.

I don't think I have a favorite. It's too hard to pick just one!

They are hard to choose from, I agree. What are your favourites?

Oh, I don't know. I'm rather a fan of the one with the dancing princesses, but I read one just the other day about six brothers turned into swans, and I like that one quite a bit, too.

The dancing princesses. I don't think I know that one.

The shoemaker and the elves has always been one of mine.

The Princess and the Pea. I had a pop-up book of that one.

That's the one with the pea in the mattress, or am I remembering incorrectly?

...What's a pop up book?

tofuinthesky February 27 2009, 01:45:28 UTC
That's the one.

It's a book that has pictures that pop-out or up and stuff you can pull on. It's all interactive.

I never understood how she could feel the pea under that many mattresses, though.

Are they magic or fairy-made books?
