ok so here's the layout: A diabetic has problems metabolizing (using) glucose (carbohydrates). Because of this, their heart depends mroe on protein and fat for energy (because the three sources of energy are carbs, protein and fat). Fat is higher in energy (calories) and therefore requires more oxygen for the heart to use it's energy and break it down. Because you're intaking more fat, there's more heart blockage (cholesteral, etc..). Artery blockage means that less oxygen is getting through. This oxygen is needed to give the heart the energy it needs (because the fats are providing energy and without the proper amounts of oxygen, the body cannot break down the fats to begin with). So basically, a diabetic should try to monitor their diets, including good protein and some healthy fat sources and this should give them more energy because then th e heart wont be so dependant on the fats.
