Anyone know where I might find a fellow by the name of Norrington?
I'm due for a drink with the man.

[There is a pause. Her pen taps a few times before curiosity abounds, and then she just starts to write random terms. Someone, somewhere, must be curious enough to ask her, right. And after spending some time as Fergan, she sure needs ( Read more... )

[Pinged by the word "Terran" and the mention of extrasolar planetoids. That weapon is terrifying, too.]

Fascinating knowledge...

Terran Prime Year? That seems unlike the years that my Terra uses, so it is... a different Terra, perhaps. [A different Terra. That's a little surprising, but not too much so. There were multiversions of everything after all.]

Is that your... weapon? [The word is written with revulsion, if that is at all possible. Mr. Pacifist, here.]

[That death toll is horrifying.] So many killed... what a barbaric action to do. What sort of imbeciles would do such a thing?

There's probably just shy of fifty relevant on the galactic stage and a couple hundred others which are less important.

[Flatly. But... maybe with a little pride. No one else seems to have this going for them]

[Definite surprise here. If only because the mun hasn't thought of anywhere near that many species yet.] Though Terra has only seen a tiny part of the scope of life that I am sure must reside in our universe, that number dwarfs the data I have currently collected on sapients.

Your universe is... an impressive one. [That's just Robert being minorly awed, here.] Though also a violent one...

[Universe. That's a funny word.]

Do you guys have extragalatic travel?

[Robert's picking his words carefully because Nina seems like the kind of person who would be more informed about this sort of thing.]

... Yes, but it is relatively limited, admittedly. There is research going into the field to improve our viability in that regard, but for the time being I would not be so presumptuous as to say Terrans could go anywhere they chose.

Galaxy #3's got nothing close unless you count our fine extragalactic godfathers.

[Robert makes a questioning sound.] What is it that you mean by that? [He's wondering if she means maybe some sort of panspermia sort of life seeding. That's a very interesting thought, actually, though it would imply life deliberately engineered to some extent.]

The Third Klovian Commonwealth is a seeded government of colonists from "way back" in their own Galaxy #1. After unifying a different galaxy under a peaceful rule, they decided to try their hands at us.

So there are panspermic species in your universe? Most impressive...

And where exactly do you hail from? What with all your knowledge of all these species, you come across as a person who has had much study. [Which is impressive, even if she is a little intimidating.]

I'm not so interesting. I'm just an ol' city gal from New Chicago.

[She lied]

[He can't tell. Even if she was a terrible liar he probably wouldn't be able to regardless.]

Ah, but you have already struck me as quite interesting, regardless of where you might live. All of that knowledge suggests a learned, adept mind.

I simply recognize intelligence when I see it. [And Robert values it greatly.]
