I have a feeling that this is bigger than the actions of a couple of individuals at a moment in time. In some instances nobody can do anything that's patently stupid but produces shitty outcomes. The mistrust between power and the disenfranchised is big, messy and complex. I hope this sheds some light on it.

My understanding is he bristled at showing his ID, but then showed it. Plus some drama that I don't fully get, about whether he would come outside or stay inside. Apparently he then followed them out demanding to see their ID, & was arrested for "disorderly conduct."
