Viola: ((at least you're able to withhold pumping your fists in the air until after you leave! :D congrats!))
Kristoph: ((He gets outside and squees 8D))
Viola: ((YOUR FIRST REALLY BIG CASE :D CONGRATS, GAVIN))
Viola: ((IT ONLY TOOK YOU THREE YEARS LONGER THAN IT DID ME))
Kristoph: ((SHUT UP I HATE YOU *SOBSOBSOB*))
Kristoph: *straightens his suit coat as he allows the Detention Center guard to lead him to the visitation room. After having heard about the incident on the news, he spent some time considering, and finally decided the rewards of such a case outweigh the risks*
Kristoph: *takes a seat on one side of the viewing glass and places his briefcase on the table next to him as he waits for the guard to show in the lady he hopes will be his client*
Viola: *walks into the visitation room escorted by a guard, and takes her time to seat herself properly, smooth out the front of her dress, and fold her hands on her lap. She smiles a small polite smile as she studies the person across the glass visitation pane, and appears quite nonchalant and at ease*
Kristoph: *smiles warmly at her* It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Cadaverini. My name is Kristoph Gavin--I'm a defense attorney.
Viola: Good afternoon... Mr. Lawyer...
Viola: And why are you here to visit me...?
Kristoph: I heard you were in need of representation. *tilts his head to the side slightly* Or has your family already taken care of it?
Viola: *shakes her head lightly* Our family's lawyers are already... tied up... in a different case... A more... complicated... one. And Grandfather is letting me choose...
Viola: *pauses, leaning forward toward the glass and smiling just a little bit wider*
Viola: ...Tea...?
Kristoph: *watches her curiously, not sure if she's offering tea or asking him for it* Are you allowed tea in here?
Viola: *holds a hand to her mouth, laughing lightly* ...Of course... Families are allowed some privileges in here...
Viola: *glances over to the guard on her side of the room, and he--despite looking initially confused--hurriedly excuses himself, only to return moments later with a tray, a teapot and two cups, which he places on the desk in front of Viola. She takes her time in filling both cups, one of which the guard takes and exits the room. His footsteps are audible in the hallway as he heads to Kristoph's side*
Viola: *as the guard offers the teacup to Kristoph* To be honest, Mr. Lawyer... I've never heard of you before...
Viola: And I was... waiting for another attorney to come.
Kristoph: *smiles as he blows over the surface of his tea* Then I apologize for drinking the tea meant for him. But if it's Mr. Wright you mean, I'm afraid he couldn't be here to enjoy it himself anyway. *takes a slow sip* A shame, as it's delicious.
Viola: Oh...? *takes a careful sip, watching him*
Kristoph: I'm sorry, have you not heard? *frowns slightly as he lowers his cup to the table* Mr. Wright is no longer practicing. He is employed at my office now, as a legal assistant.
Viola: *sets down her cup as well* That's interesting... but not... unexpected.
Viola: Defense attorneys don't... last very long... in this city...
Hee... Hee... Hee...
Kristoph: *smiles* Perhaps not. All the more reason for us to take this chance to become acquainted, don't you think?
Viola: ...True... *smiles widely* You're aware it wouldn't be very... pleasant... for you... if you were to lose this case...
Viola: *her smile fades* ...My Grandfather would be... very unhappy...
And you in turn... would be very unhappy as well...
Viola: Hee... Hee... Hee...
Kristoph: *raises an eyebrow, but he knew long before coming in that that was the case* I'm more concerned about what would happen to you if I were to lose, Miss Cadaverini. But I'm confident that I can earn for you a much more favorable outcome.
Viola: *tilts her head* ...I'm not very worried... But good. ...So long as you know that... I'll take you as my lawyer... *smiles softly*
Kristoph: *grins, though he tries not to look overly enthusiastic* Excellent. I'll have the proper paperwork written up. In the meantime, is there anything you can tell me about the case itself?
Viola: *takes another sip of tea, then shakes her head* ...Not very much... and your investigation wouldn't be very fun if I could... would it...?
Viola: The only thing is... ...I heard about the victim... *she turns to the side, laughing into her hand* And... such a person...
Viola: If I had a reason to kill him... it wouldn't be me driving the dagger... into their back.
Hee... Hee... Hee...
Kristoph: Of course not. I'm sure such violence doesn't suit you. *takes another sip of his tea* Did you know the victim personally?
Viola: *shakes her head* ...I'm acquainted with the Rivales Family... yes... but not with any of their men...
Kristoph: I didn't think so. From what I've heard, the victim was rather young, and no one of importance. *He shakes his head.* A shame.
Viola: It's a part of the business... that's all. *glances to the side, smiling slightly* I'm sure he was well aware...
Kristoph: Yes, of course. *nudges his tea away* Is there anything else you can tell me before I begin my investigation? I may return later with some questions for you, if that's all right.
Viola: ...That's it. ...And that's fine...
Viola: *reaches inside her pocket, taking out a small change purse; there's a scrap of paper with a phone number on it, which she holds to the glass pane* You can call this number... to arrange payment... And if you run into... any problems...
Kristoph: *stares at the number for a moment, memorizing it.* Thank you. I'll be in touch, then. *pushes to his feet.* Again, it was a pleasure to meet you, Miss Cadaverini.
Viola: *places the paper back into her change purse, and back into her pocket, standing up after she does so--she offers another smile* ...Good afternoon Mr. Gavin...
Kristoph: *nods his head in acknowledgement* Until later. *feeling pleased with himself, he turns to leave*
Viola: *giggles quietly to herself as she takes her teacup, places it back on the tray, and takes it over to the guard at the door. He fumbles with it and opens up the exit to escort her back to her cell*
