Over the past few months I've become completely bedazzled by David Weber's Honor Harrington series. Harrington is a starship captain in an age of naval-style space combat. She's a brilliant strategist with impeccable leadership skills, exemplary integrity, and a way of inspiring fanatical loyalty in her crew and stark terror in her enemies. She' ( Read more... )

Fantastic timing, I just finished At All Costs and am going for the new one, Storm From The Shadows.

I adore the Honorverse for all your mentioned reasons. I wish I had been introduced to it when I was younger than 19, say in my teens; havign an awesome example like Honor to follow would have influenced me a lot.

Why is it that we always are introduced to "classic" (read: boring) books in grade school and high school instead of the ones that will get us hooked on reading and give us someone to admire?

My grandpa keeps telling me to read these books... I guess I know why now. I have the first one... guess I should crack it open.

We should totally sit down and watch a bunch of Star Trek episodes when I get back! :D *rocks out*

Honor Harrington does get some lovin' early in the series, but the series doesn't really focus on romance. There's some of it, but not much, at least from what I've read so far (eight books in).

I can tell I'm going to enjoy coming back to Tucson. ^_^ *hugs*
