My Step Mum just rang to say that my cat is an ex-cat. She was put down this afternoon with acute kidney failure. A bit sad, but she had a good run of it, 16/17 years (we're not quite sure as she was a rescue cat) and she's been enjoying her old age lying under a bench in the garden for much of the time. So that's that. I am no longer a cat owner.

I'm not tearful about it fortunately (hardly need something else to be upset about!) probably as I didn't actually have to be thee. Ceanna was a bit upset last night as she had to take her and bury her.

It's kind of good that she didn't get too bad or seem to be in pain, just old age caught up with her.
