Where East meets West...

I've finally got round to uploading a few of my Istanbul photos...the following are just a few of the many highlights...

The interior of the Hagia Sophia...first a church, then a mosque, now a museum. The photo doesn't quite capture the scale of the place, nor the ancientness...

Hagia Sophia from the outside...you can sort of see where bits have been added on over the centuries...

View from the top of the Galata Tower looking towards the old part of the city...the water you can see is the Golden Horn...

Istanbul Archaeology Museum...a fascinating place

The main dome of the Blue Mosque...absolutely beautiful...

The Spice Bazaar...a total overload for the senses!

The Grand Bazaar...I could have spent so much money here but restrained myself admirably :)

One of the rooms in the harem at Topkapi Palace

One of the many tiled corridors in the harem...

So yes, it is a rather amazing place. If you get the chance to go, do so!

Edit: and another thing, I'm moving house this weekend then off on holiday for a week so not sure when I'll next be on the interweb :oO
