It seems the older I get the more music affects me and seems to magnify the emotions I'm feeling at the time. I'm currently listening to a live version of High Hopes by Pink Floyd and it's making me want to run outside to the nearest open space, lie down and cry until I can't cry anymore.

Maybe that's why so much depends on a good soundtrack for a film! :)

You're absolutely right! The best soundtracks to me are those where the music isn't really intrusive, but you'd really notice if it wasn't there.
