Abby, I know you are grateful I took you in during a bitter cold winter and gave you a home. I know you are already very bonded to me and want to make me happy. I'm glad you finally feel like this is truly home.

But if I find one more freshly-killed rat at the foot of my bed, I will have a psychotic break.

He was probably left on his own to fend for himself, so he's just doing what comes naturally. The only solution to that would be to keep him indoors at all times.

They are gifts to his human, as horrid as that might seem, but to him they are an offering of love and acceptance.

Oh, I so know that. It's actually very sweet, but it has to stop (dead things in my house, that is). So I will manually let him in and out to ensure that all I have in my house are to cuddly, sweet, and very much alive four-footed critters. ;)

Keeping him indoors isn't an option, which is tough for me because I've never had a cat that I allowed to stay out overnight. I just have to let go and realize what will be will be.
