A very courageous man died today.

He wasn't known to a lot of people. He lived in a small town of about 1,200 in Canada. He was a short, but very stocky and muscled man - not very talkative. He and his wife and my parents became friends years ago, only to find out that somehow his wife and my father had known each other before ( Read more... )

Thank you, dear. How are you? I haven't seen anything from you in ages. Are you still with your man?

I actually just got back from two months with my parents in Canada. I was planning to be there for three weeks, but then we found out my mother has lung cancer that has spread to her brain. So I canceled my flight and stayed for her brain surgery, and now she is doing radiation to make sure they got it all. Then in a few weeks she will start chemo for the cancer in her body. It's been a rough few months. But I did come home with a suitcase full of Canadian chocolate bars!

Hope your mother recovery soon!
What do you mean about brain surgery, did they cut part of her brain out?
What is Canadian chocolate bars?

She had a tumor on her lung, what they call the primary (or first) tumor. It had spread to her brain, so they did surgery and removed the tumor in her brain. They did radiation treatments on the brain to make sure all the tumor is gone and next month they will start chemo for the lung cancer.

Canadian chocolate bars are just so much better than American - Coffee Crisp, Aero, Cherry Blossom, Crunchy - and they don't have those in the States!
