As of February 2013, Con or Bust is now located at
http://con-or-bust.org/. You can find the current version of this page at
http://con-or-bust.org/auction/.
In 2012, bidding starts Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. EST (GMT -5) and ends Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Bids outside this time period do not count [*].
Bidding is done through comments to the relevant post. If there are no bids yet, click on "Post a new comment" and enter your bid. (If you do not have an LJ account, see below.)
If you're bidding against someone, please click on "Reply" UNDER the last bid. This allows them to be notified of the bid against them and allows easier tracking of bids on posts with multiple items. If you bid in the wrong place, I may freeze your comment and ask you to re-bid in the proper place.
IMPORTANT: because of LJ's changes, the subject line for comments may not be visible to everyone, so please do not put any information solely in the subject line.
(If you have an LJ account, you can track all comments to a post by clicking the little blue pushpin button in the blue bar toward the top on the entry page, or clicking "Track Comments" from the front page of the community. You can also track a specific bidding thread with the pushpin next to the timestamp on comments.)
Non-LJ users: you may bid, but you must include some kind of identifying information with EACH AND EVERY COMMENT. Either use the dropdown menu next to "From:" at the top of the comment form to log in with another service (Facebook, Google, etc.), or leave "Anonymous" selected and leave a name, nickname, blog address, anything that reasonably identifies you at the end of your bid comment. If you fail to do this or to respond within a reasonable time to requests to identify yourself, or if I think your bid is in bad faith, I reserve the right to cancel your bid and let the auction continue or, if already closed, to go to the next bidder.
[*] Except that a seller with multiple items may, at their discretion, offer extra items to late bidders.
If you are a logged-in LJ user and LJ's new comment pages are giving you trouble, try viewing the community's entries in their own style, which has been customized to mimic the old functionality: either remove "?style=mine" from the URL, or uncheck "View in my style" from the navigation bar across the top.
