I spent Thursday morning taking advantage of Barker and MIT net to provide myself with a slew of journal articles about extracting data fields from html or general text. The idea is that you have a bunch of pages that were generated from a template and a database, and want to reconstruct the database without access to the template. This is of ( Read more... )

if it's useful to you: i'd have to think about how i feel about being a guinea pig novice. it probably depends on free time and demands that work and school make on my computer. it probably also depends on me getting over my stupid pride and asking you questions..as well as us having spare time and being in the same place at the same time. (this weirds me because i'm used to learning alone and not letting people watch my learning curve. i think that's my basic guinea pig problem.) but if you want someone who is on the novice side of the entry barriers, stuff next year seems to make me convenient, and figuring linux out is something i've been both thinking about and putting off for a while.

i'd been considering offering the same thing, but i'm probably a less convenient and useful test subject.
