wrote and recorded this song after making it through Katrina, standing on a table in his kitchen with water up to his chest.  They had made it through Camille without flooding, so they were not as concerned with Katrina, being a weaker storm and all.  The video was put together by his company....

The first thing I noticed was he got the date wrong at the beginning of the video.

Having gone through Katrina myself, I don't really find these types of videos fascinating. I received no insurance check, however I didn't feel the need to broadcast that info on youtube and ask for donations.

The only time I ever think about Katrina is when someone else brings it up or I suddenly have a need for something I once had, then start wondering where it is, only to realize that it was part of my pre-Katrina life and that I haven't had it for years now. Like, "where is that cute picture of Christy... oh, yeah, I have no pictures from that time in my life anymore."

he didn't make the video. he just recorded the song. The people from his company that "adopted" him made the video, and he's not on youtube asking for money. The video was made for internal purposes at his company, and someone thought the song was good enough to share. Hence, no contact information for the random person at the end of the video to donate. He's not trying to gain sympathy from people on the web....I guess I should have just posted the youtube link instead of embedding it so you could get the whole story. I thought I explained it well enough, but I didn't apparently.

I was talking about these types of videos in general more so than just this specific one. They seem to fascinate only those that weren't there, is my point. Such as war footage or documentaries wouldn't hold much interest to someone that was in war before.

I did notice that there wasn't contact info beyond a simple name, like this was distributed among people who would know exactly who that is, like Janet Medlock in Human Resources (or wherever).
