So the other night I was laying in bed trying to sleep. It was 1:30 am and I had to be up in 5 hours. I had my hand somewhere near or on the side of my head? Anyway, I felt one of my dreads move across my hand/neck/face and heard chirping/squeaking. I moved my hand and heard the chirping make its way to the floor. Were you able to capture the bat? The thing I find scary about bats is how easily they get rabies. This one time when I was outside watching a sidewalk sale a bat kept flying into windows, then hid under our table after leaning on the bare leg or a little girl. The animal control person that caught the bat had it tested and said it had rabies. They also said if a bat bites you it's hard to tell because it's so small it feels like a scratch, so since this bat touched bare skin on the kid, the kid had to go through a series of rabies shots.

Anyway I was thinking if you caught it you could have it tested, but since this was at night it's less likely that the bat had rabies. It's usually the ones who are out in the daytime that have that trouble.

Nah, didn't bite me or anything. I have constant encounters with bats in our house because they roost in our roof (I just wanted to use oo twice). In my closet there is a hole (not supposed to be there) that goes into that space with the insulation, so they get into the house pretty frequently through there. I'm smart about it, obviously don't just go and pick them up. I put a box over it, slid some card under and brought it outdoors. It must have been flying around my room for a while after the lights were killed because it wouldn't have landed like that unless it was worn out.

"Bats have been known to have rabies but only ten people in all the United States and Canada have developed rabies from bats in the past four decades. More people die each year from dog attacks. "
