What happens when your mother raises you wrong

So, I've been out drinking, and lo! it's the middle of the night. I come home with the munchies and reach for... brussel sprouts.

*headdesk*

They're really, really good, tho. God, I love sprouts.

(For the record, Mum never fed us sprouts or spinach; I acquired that taste in England. She raised us on salads. Yum.)

Truly, only England could cultivate a taste for sprouts and spinach!

(Actually, I adore all those dark green leafy things and did even as a child.)

Is there any particularly English food that you actually miss?

English food. :::shudder::: I nearly never ate out. But I do miss jacket (baked) potatoes with baked beans, Ribena (a blackberry concentrate you mix with water or soda), the creamy rice puddings, the rhubarb yogurt, and all the delicious packets of ready-made Indian food. It was so good to come home to delicious Indian food. It almost made up for the fact that you couldn't find a shred of Mexican food or salsa anywhere (!!!).
