This chapter (and Howard's drawings) gave me goosebumps! Come to think of it, Howard's mum gives me goosebumps, too. I love the relationship that she and Vince have, though, and Nan Moon's ring certainly seems tailor-made for Vince. I loved the very end with Old Gregg and the Hitcher being all domestic with the children. This really was a wonderful adventure of a story and I'm so very sorry that it has finally come to an end. Two and a half years? That's almost the entirety of my oldest son's middle school years. Believe me when I tell you that this story has gotten me through some very difficult times. I am very sad that it is over.
This story has gotten me through some pretty difficult times! Thank you for always being so supportive of this story and of me in general. You've been a great friend to me (and the story!).
I struggled a bit between what to wrap up and what to leave open, but I think you articulated it better than I could ever pin in down in my mind tank: things were resolved when they were ready to jump blindly into an insane adventure. If Howard and Vince can't risk life and limb out of mild curiosity, they aren't the boys we know and love! I felt it made sense to leave Vince and Howard at the beginning of an adventure and if that leaves the door open for the occasional one-off for a person who really enjoyed this 'verse then... those are some stories for another time!
Thanks for the review, you know I eat them up!, and thanks for always being so supportive of me and my writing. You've been such a wonderful part of my fandom experience and I'm so happy to have you as a friend.
Holy crap, woman. This is (pardon my French) motherfucking genius. I'm seriously just... blown away. Not that I don't love being able to read your brilliant work for free, but you should really look into writing for money because you have the gift.
This part: “Remember when Vince was just your imaginary friend?” Howard’s mother asked, gazing at Vince fondly. “It was such a lovely surprise when you brought him home.”
OH MY GOD. I seriously went all goose-bumpy and made dolphin seizure noises.
You're too sweet! You've always been such a great cheerleader for me and this story and I really appreciate it!
The idea of writing professionally scares me, because I don't take rejection well. I wish I were like Howard and throw things around, but instead I just melt inside. However, I was thinking my next story with Vince hooking up with various Julian characters might be the kind of story that could actually be doctored into a regular story. I even have a name for it, "50 Shades of Gay" (cause it's going to have it all!).
I'm so sad this beautiful story is over, you're such an amazing writer. My brain keeps wondering about the Ring of Darkness and Light. It's really got me curious. Well done on this, it's been brilliant.
