why can't asian fathers let go of their ideal image of success, and realize that i don't want to be one of those crazy asians who graduate with top honours, gets a high paying job, and retires with one motha of a pension? why can't asian fathers accept the fact that i don't want to be a doctor, lawyer or pharmacist? why must they enforce this naive ( Read more... )

You can get a high paying job without graduating high honours. You can get a high paying job by doing whatever it is that you love to do.
And I don't think it's only asian parents that force these ideas upon their kids, I think pretty much every one can relate to this shit (maybe except for Erin Fitzgerald, but who gives a flying fuck about her?)

Don't fill your life with anyone's expectations. Live your love.

don't let their opinions get to the best of you! but then again, all parents just want their kids to have high paying jobs so that they can have lots and lots of money so they won't have to go running to their parents for money. i guess? meh.
