Marvel Comics & Star Wars WTF
Geekdom ranting follows
I want to say one thing here and I'm not sure if it should be a a big fuck you or a simple WTF to Marvel comics. Now I'm not a big comic guy. Both literal and figurative. I have a small collection. The longest series I followed was Joss Whedon's (Buffy/Firefly) Astonishing X-men. With artist John Cassaday's great work) Other then that I never followed the comics. Only the cartoon and the sucky movies. Well pretty much this series was awesome. So naturally it came to an end and marvel carried on the series with a different team. Looked like it sucked. And so now they are relaunching the series like a 4th time.

Everyone looks like a whore or all emo trying to look all badass! WHY?!
Ya know Whedon actually poked fun at two different styles of costumes in his comic. He had Wolverine mention that as long as he didnt have to wear black leather he was fine. Thats poking fun at the movie x-men. There was another part that was a dream sequence where Cyclops wakes up in early 90's costume style that was basically batmans belt on crack. Pockets fucking everywhere! Too top off that joke he even had him wearing a pink tutu. He actually had them wear the classic yellow/blue outfits which was a great welcome to many.
So yeah now they are emo looking whores/badass wannabes...
It kinda figures that they are trying to milk the Whedon era by referencing it through all their promos while pushing this new version that wont even compare. Even creating a shit "motion comic" event. Just eww..

You fucking suck George Lucas. (TLDR : fucker canceled the best book series he had by Karen Traviss) Yeah I'm a Star Wars fan. I have the movies and I can admit how lame they are especially the new ones. Which many think were the fall of it all. I even have a collection of some of the toys. Yes I'm a dork I'm writing about Lucas and Whedon in the same journal lol. But ya know what it's what I grew up on so Star Wars will always have a place in my corner of geekdom. It's one thing my father gave me.
Heres the suck though. Ive tried to read Expanded universe stuff which is basically comics and books. And to tell the truth they suck. I read a book that was soooo boring that I don't even know how I finished it. Actually I do and it's because I enjoy reading books and no matter how much a book sucks I gotta finish it. Kinda just to see how it ends.
Well the only good books I've read of Star Wars have been written by Karen Traviss. Each year for about 5 years I would look forward to the next book. If there's anything good that the new SW movies brought about it's the CloneTroopers. In fact that's what my toy collection is of; The troopers. Fuck the Jedi and fuck the Sith. Except for maybe Qui-Gon lol.
But seriously Traviss' books were focused on the troopers and a couple of jedi who actually had brains. Unlike their movie counterparts who never saw the big bad coming. Oh plus she basically created the language and culture of the Mandalorians. Before her they were basically just a part of the fandom which was spawned by Boba Fett which played a relatively minor character in the old movies. Kinda unexpected really but here we are today where people dress up and create their own armor and even get married in the style of mando! Im kinda guessing that's why they couldn't work out to have her finish the last two books she was scheduled for. Jealous of her skills haha. One big realization she did for SW was to let people know that the troopers wern't just robots. They were basically a slave army that the oh so mighty peace loving jedi were using. Albeit somewhat forced into using but they still as a whole saw no wrong in that? So in doing so everytime I see Order 66 taking place in the movie I smile. Cause dammit... they should've seen it coming. One of the sad reasons for the axe was that her continuity conflicted with what they wanted to do in the new kid friendly cartoon series. I hate that series honestly and now have more reason too. Its a joke and makes me laugh at moments where I know its not called for. I'm talking about the new CGI video game looking one of course. The first Clone Wars cartoon by Genndy Tartakovsky of Samurai Jack was beyond awesome. The new one not even close.
So yeah I'm rightly pissed by this news. As it stands no one even knows what's to happen next. Perhaps they get someone else to wrap up the story. Which could be horrible or could be adequate I guess. Otherwise they just leave the series as is..no end. Just yeah hmm. Thats kind of the game when you use someone elses concept and try to create your own niche in their universe. I understand that but it still sucks.
