Looney Tunes Live Action and Jesus Fish

Aug 20, 2010 22:05

A few things on my mind that Ive found interesting or weird; Music and getting sick of  once loved bands, Looney Tunes live action movies compared to the new crop  of CGI animal movies, and Jesus fish on cars.

So ever since I first saw Who frammed Roger Rabbit Ive loved movies that mix toons in with live actors. Yes even the Warner Bros movies Space Jam and Looney Tunes Back In Action. I know some people find them to be lame. But I love those movies! number one because they featured toons that we all know and love and 2 because they are still toons! In all of these movies they are Toons. They know this fact and in some cases they are actors as well. But even outside of the studio they still act like toons! WTF its really weird to me but so perfect and I wouldnt want it any other way. I hear they are planning a CG/Live action Speedy Gonzales movie. If done right I might just love to see it. Not sure about that really though from what Ive been seeing WB doing with the Looney Tunes lately. Only time will tell I guess.

But that brings me to my next point. The current slew of CG/live action movies. None have really been good. The first Scooby Doo movie I enjoyed. The other two were like cheap knockoffs and the special effects just got worse. Beverly Hills Chihuahua was good enough as a joke movie. I liked all the stupid jokes and images they tossed in. But overall a bad movie that cant really be shared with friends. Theres been other movies and Im not sure if its fair to compare them to Roger Rabbit and the like because these new films are basically the cute kiddy animal movie formula and not really anything to do with toons. Marmaduke is the worst offender however. It was just bad. Just horrible. So horrible that it was funny. The CG/storyline/acting/everything. I couldnt stop laughing at how bad it was (got to see it for free). So it was worth seeing once just to laugh at how bad it was. Honestly this was a movie that should have been animated. Not because I prefer toons but honestly just because the effects were overused and bad. And yet somehow they managed to have a better looking dog then the one in Tim Burtons Alice movie. Which is another movie I believe wouldve been better as a cartoon. But thats a different topic... lets just say I didnt like it one bit. Except for the White Rabbit and Snape-apillar.

So yeah thats my take on whats wrong with the current CG animal movies. I still think Im getting to see toons interact with people when instead I get talking animals basically...

Now for Jesus fish! I know one of my previous journals talked about bumper stickers and such. So this may be going against that a bit. But Ive been thinking about adding a Jesus fish to my car. As some of you may know, Ive gone through school to be a full fledged and certified Catholic (seriously, its framed and everything). Yet I find myself to be more Christian then anything. Im one of those people who believe that as long as you have faith then thats cool. I dont force my views on anyone and could care less about athiests. Even though I still hope they do find faith one day. Thats just natural. So whats got me wanting a Jesus fish on my car is this; I see far too many cars at conventions and gatherings with so much anti religious stickers. Its disturbing to see someone think that they are being cute by displaying such material. Though of course the flipside is a car with loads of pro religious stickers. But I see nothing wrong with having one at least (actually have 2 small crosses in my car where most cant see) and for me it would be a Jesus fish. Just something to cancel out the hate kind of, hah. If its something simple like the Jesus fish then its positive. But something like the Darwin fish is a toss up. Its bashing religion in a way and supporting evolution (nothing wrong with that 2nd part). Or maybe just being one or the other to some. But the twist on that is the Jesus fish with "truth" written inside it eating a Darwin fish. So this is saying that evolution is false then or just sticking it to the haters? Ive got to be honest and say I would prefer this version actually. Just because it does poke fun at others. But in reality it is a bit of tossing hate back and forth. Which isnt healthy or productive. Which is something Ive seen recently with prop 8 being overturned. Theres been gays commenting that this is a victory for them. Okay Im fine with that. But some take it a bit too far and decide to add to their celebration by talking smack about peoples religions. Which is completly intolerant and kind of ironic in that gays are wanting to be accepted by society/not hated and here they are flinging hate. Some of them try to defend this hatred of religion by saying that the religious folks are trying to take away their rights and so two wrongs make a right... yeah, no. I know not all gays are evil just as not all religious folk are evil. Even though some on both sides beg to differ. Honestly the religious are just afraid of being forced by the law to marry gays in their churches. So yeah instead of hate spread some love.
And thats whats got me wanting to show my support of our Lord in car form. (update: got mah fish with a lil cross in it)

A bit on music. Ive been going through my Zune to see which songs I can delete to make some more space and Ive been noticing how my tastes have changed. Certain bands such as KoRn that Ive followed since High School, I dont like thier new stuff. In-fact I hate it when a band says "were going back to our roots to make an album just like our first album". Its really dumb and never ever works. Their album before the current one I liked and I admit it was different. But bands change and thats good. But when they force themselves thats just lame. Linkin Park is a band I used to like then gave up on them. I dont like their new album. But Ive gotten back into their old ones and even the remix ones. So thats different. Another band Im thinking about throwing away is the Hives. I fell in love with their music way back and have a few rare albums and even got to see them play live (rare stuff on eBay now http://shop.ebay.com/cbankla/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 ) . But lately I hardly want to listen to them. So things change I guess. Thats the point of that. A few bands that have stuck around on my playlist are Puya, Cafe Tacuba, American Head Charge, and Louis  XIV. A few good ones are Incubus, Junior Senior, and Marc Rizzo.
This month however marks a couple of new albums coming out. Which is rare for me to be excited about. But one is Puya which havent had any new material in almost 10 years and the other is The Nervous Wreckords, which is the new band from Louis XIV guitarist. So theres some good stuff on the horizon.
