Reading this opens up a whole horror I hate to read or think about. But I do care, I care too much. Like you I would do what I could, thank goodness there are people to do it.
I support the Lost Dog's home, and used to rescue and take to shelters stray cats. It just breaks me into pieces when I read of cruelty. A recent case involving a Kangaroo had me so angry I swear I would have been in for manslaughter had I met the guy who did it.

Aww, the poor guy. He just sounds really overwhelmed and trying to do the right thing.
