It's a pokémon egg.

Yup. It's like women getting pregnant. But in there case they leave eggs.

I'm not sure why that surprises me, lots of animals lay eggs.

So what does it hatch into?

They can hatch into lots of different things. Though, this one's gonna be a Meowth.

Oh, so you get whatever the parent is and not a weird blend?

Nope, no weird hybrids or whatever. In order to breed pokémon you have to have the exact same type. So in this case two Meowths. Or one Meowth and a Ditto. [he pauses.] Ditto's can copy the pokémon's look and attacks. Most breeders take this route since it's easier.

Like a shapeshifter? [ This place was getting more bizarre, but also a little more familiar. They didn't have shapeshifters but... it was supernatural, it was familiar ] So people do this a lot?
