Find out about it all
Thursday - Stayed home till about 4pm, when I got picked up to go practice at Versai. There were 7 people in Mike Le’s van, and we had to pick up another dancer, Cardin, and his choreographer. We stopped at Popeye’s, ordered a huge bag of food, and went to practice. We showed them what we learned, and Mark, his choreographer, helped refine/add moves and positions to make it look cleaner. I messed up so many times, lol…but I was getting there…we got to practice on the stage, so that helped a little, hehe…Came back home practiced some more…
Friday - Stayed home till the evening, where I then got picked up by Carnby to go to to Bo’s house for Christine’s going away party. There was a good number of peeps there…yummy food. =) We had a guest (JD) who gave us an easy lesson. He opened with word puzzles, followed by itnroductions (name one thing you’d bring with you for 3 weeks), and we skipped around the Bible, answering easy questions but learning that it’s important to spend time for God in our day. Afterward, picked up someone and went to Wal-mart, where the lines got highly annoying, lol…
Saturday - Went to Dentist appointment for 8am; then, went to the new house to work on bed frame amongst other tasks. Had to go to Kirschman’s because we didn’t have the hardware (nuts and bolts). Went back and installed insulation in the attics, ate at Come Back Inn, poured baking soda/vinegar down drains after removing nasty hair, installed more insulation in another attic, got back home and got a ride with Skullay to perform in Versai’s Hoi Cho!
I was surprised that AASIA’s toy booth got put at the Buddhist temple on the Westbank; if it were at Versai, we would’ve made soooo much money…oh well…
So all the dancers were in the classrooms practicing, and there was a lot of confusion as to what time people were to perform. We were told that the Cardin dance would be performed around 6-6:30pm, to open the night and that the Marrero dance would be for 8:30pm. Ok, time passes by and it turns out that Cardin wants to switch the performance to 8pm (more people, ok, makes sense). Still, we end up not doing either of the dances. More performers, singers, fashion show, breaks pass by, and finally, around 9:00 or so, we get ready to perform the Cardin dance.
The music was live this time so it kinda felt weird dancing, but I think I managed to nail it pretty well, thankfully. Around 10:30, we perform the Marrero one, and that looked pretty good too. I guess all those years of performing (musically) helps with anxiety. I’ve never performed in front of a crowd so huge. There were literally thousands watching…it was great. =) Left shortly afterward, got dropped off at Kevin’s, played HALO 2 and called it a night.
Sunday: Went to church and felt sad that it was Christine’s last Sunday before she left. Then, I headed to Young’s Garden Restaurant to meet up with family and numerous members of the CPC Church. My grandparents (mom’s side) came in and I noticed that my grandfather had an abnormal growth on his neck (probably from the surgery). =/ ‘Twas funny though to watch the elderly play mah-jong in the back, haha…Left before 3pm, picked up Mary, and headed to the Anime convention (getting a little lost along the way). Saw lots of overpriced goodies, while the games kinda sucked since there was only 1 tv per game, but the music videos were well done. Afterward, went to eat at Houston’s, got caught in the rain, and lastly, headed to Cold Stone. Later that night, I started studying for my Social Psychology test…
V-day: Research - reviewed for a test on Wednesday; HIST - turned in take home quiz, learned about Greek culture, and studied for Psych; Catholicism - started to drift off again but learned about Church history. Social Psych - that test was hard! Hated the fill in the blanks (especially when so many words are similar in meaning)…during the evening, headed to Starbucks to study and then Wal-mart to buy some milk (haha…)
Tuesday: Before Stats, I went to the Academic Center and got help with my homework…went to class, learned more about the homework…went to an officer meeting to discuss Lunar New Year, and read some stories for English. I got back my essay test (96!), woohoo! As expected, my second response essay sucked, but my first rocked (“Excellent, best answer to this question! +5). We got off early, so I checked out Tulane’s hip hop class which wasn’t too bad, though they spent a lot of time on stretching. Went back home, watched American Idol 4, and finished a special project of mine…=)
Wednesday: Research - took a test and didn’t have enough time to finish the last problem (uh oh…); HIST - heard that 60% of the reaction papers were bad (crap…); Catholicism - Continued church history; Social Psych - got back test and did really bad…ouch…it blew my mind when I checked the answers on Blackboard and found out that the short answer questions could be answered with just one sentence (I always thought writing more was better when ya didn’t completely know the answer).
Afterward, helped with preparations for the Lunar New Year Festival; I went to the library, finished up the program, and printed/folded 200 sheets. At 6:30pm, the festival began and I think overall, it went well. Thanks to everyone who came out.
Thursday: In the morning, I completed Stats hw, but when I got to class, I found out that the hw wasn’t due till next Thursday. That’s ok though because I messed up on ym hw anyways, lol…Got back the last hw and did poorly on it though =/ Test on Tuesday. Ate, finised LASO Agenda and went to general meeting to pick up shirt, played HALO Live, went to ENGL, where we broke into two groups and discussed one of two short stories (“Sweat” or “Rose for Emily”). Then, we talked about who the narrator was, the setting, etc…Afterward, went back home, watched some of Survivor, and got a bit obssesed with W-inds…yikes!
Friday: Research - didn’t get back tests but began new chapter; HIST - got back our take home quiz (can’t believe I missed one…), got a study guide for a test, got a new take home quiz (T/F this time), and got back our reaction papers back (25/30). RELG - just continued learning about church history. Came back home, did random stuff till 6pm, headed to church, ate, played drums for fellowship, was taught a lesson showing how LoTR compares to Christianity, came back home, picked up some friends from work, and that’s about it…
This week wasn’t my week, academically speaking…
Today: Typed up HIST/Research notes, caught up on a lot of sleep (had some interesting dreams as usual), completed my take home quiz, and I have to do a RELG and Research assignment for Monday. Hoping to be somewhat productive…
Picture time (fast connection advised):
Thursday practice:
Having 10 people in the car was kinda fun, lol…all I have to say is…chicken strips, lol (inside joke)
It’s Cardin, who observed us while we danced…I think he didn’t like what he saw, except the girls, lol…
The bandanas were the key!
The first time being on that stage. Purty lights…
After practice, we stopped at the nearest Shell gas station to get drinks. Then, I got dropped off, haha (woohoo, they all saw my condo!), followed by them getting beignets, and…
Christine’s going away party:
Kool soft hippo for Christine!
Mmm…food…*drools*
Eveyryone waiting to eat…
Can you guess who that is?
Enjoying the food and company; JD on the right getting to know a few people.
The lesson setup; hope to see him again one day…
We will miss you, Christine! Yummylicious mocha cake from Chez Pierre.
A Coconut drink with foam on the top, I dunno…look at them animals…
The going away photo frame that people signed; the middle will have a picture of her.
The sad part…our goodbyes…=(
I was crying on the inside. =/
While half of the group went to play cards, the other half, including myself, went to Bo’s room to laugh hystericall to Napoleon Dynamite clips, lol…GOSH!!!
Some of the lovely ladies of the night.
Versai Hoi Cho (Saturday):
Practicing some adjustments to the Marrero dance. oOo, is that Usher on the side? Lol, j/k…
The girls doin their thang.
Cherished moments…will never get back this memory…
This was amusing-seeing a dance battle between guys and girls…too hott for me.
We literally changed clothes 4 or 5 times because we didn’t know which dance was first-so frustrating. The stage was really dirty…eek…
Linda’s attempt to breakdance…
Skullay showin’ how to do it…
Lots of waiting in this hallway, before going out to the stage.
The room adjacent to the hallway where we practiced some more…oh, Eric and this guy named Victor freestyled against each other, lol…dang…if only Skullay were there, haha…
After the Marrero dance, we came back and watched the recording from Linda’s camcorder.
Last Sunday for Christine and my first communion:
Aww…gonna miss her way of expressing views.
Mmm, lunch…one thing I love about NOCBC. I got to eat the “body and blood” of Christ. The blood tasted like grape juice, lol…hmm, no wonder they have it in the refrigerator.
Headed to the Numarei anime convention in Westwego; this is one of the many tables that sported overpriced and reasonably priced goodies. =)
Awesome shirt! It’s pocky!
Cute sushi/cat shirt.
One could make an ID here.
Custom made weapons each costing $50 cash.
The game room which had people who wouldn’t get off the machine.
Loyola’s anime club was sellign shirts and the music videos seemed to be a crowd favorite.
The official stamp of the convention.
Tuesday after V-day:
Someone doing one of the theigh excersises in hip-hop class.
The project I was working on for V-day. =) I’m proud of it.
Another angle.
Lunar New Year:
Haha…the most I’ve ever printed from the computers; it was difficult because people may sometimes print over my printed stuff (since I had to print front and back). We students pay enough money for paper, so might as well make the most of it.
A section of the program I made, hehe…
The dragon head; ooo, there was one guy dressed as a scary monster, following the dragon, and at one point, he got into the face of a girl. She turned around and screamed aloud; then, moments later, the dragon head got into the face of another girl and she screamed as well, lol…
Really bad shot of te culture dance performers.
Lovely decorations. =)
Our food tables.
Our food eaters… While waiting in line, I talked with a few of the culture dancers and they recognized me from dancing at Versai. =) Always a pleasure to meet people who recognize you from somewhere. =)
Thursday:
The coveted LASO shirt.
A couple of old women driving a Toyota GT sports car, haha…let’s just hope that they handle it well. Always annoying to encounter old people driving…most are slow. =/
