23 for 23

Aug 24, 2014 23:54

Yesterday, I celebrated my 23rd birthday with my boyfriend (ebnu).

After reading reviews on some food blogs on the net, I decided to go to Kintan Yakiniku at Pacific Place. Honestly I am not sure if Kintan is Japanese/Korean-based, because they use Japanese language on their menu but they serve kimchi. It literally confuses me but let's not bother about it. I was pretty sure that I could spend only IDR 300.000 for 2 pax, but I think I am the one who perceived the information wrong; because in the end it's way more than that. If you order ONLY meat with NO rice, yes it is true you can spend IDR 300.000 in total (after tax). However, if you are kinda dumb like me (because I am totally hungry, can't think straight) and you order the best-seller set menu, you will end up spending almost IDR 500.000. IMO the add-ons on the set menu was not that worth it (basically it's only kimchi, salad, and ice cream - no drinks), so my recommendation would be order the meat ONLY plus 1 or 2 bowls of rice depending on your needs. You could bring a drink yourself too if you wanna save up on ocha, although it doesn't cost that much.

Again, it is my birthday so I am not complaining much for paying a premium (for once a year). The most important thing is finally I got a chance to eat gyutan (grilled beef tongue), which I paid for by myself. Gyutan is my staple menu on yakiniku, it has to be available no matter what, even though I knew that is one kind of dish that makes the price even steeper. Honestly the gyutan was not the best, but it's enough. I am pretty much satisfied.

After the "grand lunch" we decided to take a stroll around the mall. I wanted to visit Galeries Lafayette. It's probably the most luxurious department store owned by MAP in Jakarta. Some of the brands are a rare find in Jakarta; looks like exclusively stored here (e.g. The Kooples, Mink Pink, Zadig & Voltaire). Actually I was just astonished to find out that THIS renowned lingerie brand has finally made its way to Jakarta (apparently last year and I just found out now WTF). Ladies and gentlemen, it's Agent Provocateur. You could call me a freak but I totally gasped when I saw the outlet. I was so happy when they handed me the catalog lookbook. I saw the real object of their best-seller Mazzy swimsuit and some types of lingerie. Price range: IDR 1 to 5 million. One thing that crossed my mind: does anyone REALLY buy this? I saw a waiting list which contained about 80 names on it. Well, looks like AP made the right choice to open a boutique here, even if it's not independent.

Galfayette (this is my own abbrevation for the dept store :D) also stored some other brands that made me really enjoy strolling around their lingerie section. Apart from Wacoal, which seems like 10 steps down from AP, there are brands like Huit & Pleasure State. Suddenly ASOS feels unnecessary anymore, but when I look at the price tag (even when discounted), I guess ASOS price is way more reasonable even though you gotta wait 3 weeks for that stuff to arrive.

Surprisingly there is also my favorite swimwear brand, Seafolly. Seafolly is a HQ swimwear brand from Australia which also makes its debut in Indonesia since last year. At first I thought Seafolly is only sold at Universo stores in Jakarta. Honestly I don't own any piece of Seafolly but I don't understand why I fall in love with it in the first place. Probably because of their campaign lookbook. I don't know, I just ship them very much, even my farm name on Hay Day is Seafolly Brauhaus. Seafolly is and has always been on my wish list, maybe forever. Literally waiting for the right time to purchase it because it's pretty costly (and reviewing it on my blog). Unfortunately the collection sold at Galfayette were not that interesting to me - I am looking for maillot (one-piece). They mostly sell separates (two-piece) in here. The Kabuki Bloom bikini looks beautiful but I know I can't wear it. I gotta work my tummy first.

Next up, my boyfriend wants to watch Detective Conan: Dimensional Sniper movie. It is only available at Blitz Megaplex, and for some reason he was so curious about it. On the other hand, I have never read or watch Conan, so I don't care that much. Actually I wanted to watch Guardians of Galaxy, but my desire to watch movie was not that high, so I gave in and let my boyfriend buy the Conan tickets.

The movie started at 6.10pm, there is still about one hour to kill time so we opted for some light desserts. The safest option would be Haagen Dazs, of course, but we feel it's already too familiar. So we try a new place called Renaldo's Strudel. It's a type of cake which is "crumbling" like croissant. Personally I don't like this type of cake but the taste is awesome. We tried Tiramisu Horn and Mango Puff. Tiramisu is also my staple flavor of cake, but strangely the mango is more delicious. Overall it was worth the try.

As I said before, I don't know Conan but I pretty much enjoyed the movie. There were some overrated action scenes (my boyfriend claimed that previous Conan movies were not like this) and some boring discussion scenes. He said the movie was a disappointment compared to the series. All I can say is if you're not a Conan fan then maybe you will enjoy it, but if you are a Conan fan you are gonna be more critical.

Bottom line, it's a Saturday well-spent. Thank you dear, love you.

P.S. Tomorrow I must start saving for his birthday on November. HAHA :D
