Well, the writer's pretty much just regurgitating what I write, since he's not coming up with anything brilliant on his own. It's sort of a weird situation, but I'll keep sending stuff back until the writing gets to where I want it to be.

Oh man, that Tamron looks SO good. Does it attach to your Nikon ok? I read in a few places that the 18-70mm has a lot of distortion, but don't know how much or if it's a nitpicky pro photographers thing. Guess I'll just have to walk into a store and try them out for myself!

Eeeeexcellent! Thank you for the info. I'm thinking of only buying the body now and getting the 17-50mm. My current camera has this crazy paparazzi zoom that really isn't all that useful.

Yeah I think it's vignetting... I like it too ;P

And when are you coming to the "Upstart Colonies"? (Although to be honest, I guess its "Old Mexico"?)

Hey, I'll totally buy your current camera off of you - I'm still too poor to justify getting a real DSLR just for the fun of it, but I'm a big enough girl to want something with, you know, manual focus.

Unless you would prefer to sell to somebody over Craiglist for maximum dollaz, which I would totally understand.

Dude if you want it for $100 it's yours. It's a Canon Powershot S3 IS. The only thing is I'm not passing by Portland until October, if you're cool with waiting.

Yay!

October's plenty cool. I will break it in by taking 18 trillion baby photos.

i would recommend picking up a used nikon, possibly a d50, d70,or d70s
the megapixels you lose isn't too big of a factor
and the money you save is nice
