Happy Thanksgiving to anyone bored enough to read this!
My mom is in so much debt it isn't funny. Why the hell did my Dad just give up on their finances? I could understand if he'd let the bills slide when he got sick...but for the past 10 years he's just been throwing bills in the trash. The only ones he's paid are the utilities. Hmmm, Dad was a Harvard educated drunk who had hallucinations that aliens gave him prophecies of the future. That about explains it. So my mother is stuck living in a run down farmhouse, the roof is giving in and it has no running water. I will change this.
Was browsing Goodwill just yesterday in fact and this struck me as funny:
What has this world come to when alternate realities can be purchased at Goodwill for only $2.99?! Was it
Doug Feith (one of the many pricks in the Bush Admin.) who said "We are authoring our own realities."? No shit Doug. I was watching TV the other day and I saw a show about out of control paparazzi who terrorize celebrities. Stop for a moment and think about how far removed that is from reality. The media covering another media who is also covering another media, the entertainment industry. Thats 3 degress removed from anything even remotely important! Mankind has always made new realities to make up for the deficiencies of this one. Thats nothing new. I'm just really disappointed with the budding virtual worlds I see cropping up around me. Give me the Aesir, the Vanir, the Valkyries and Valhalla becuse I am sick of East Coast Rappers, West Coast Rappers, their dancing bitches and Death Row Records. Is the Superbowl the Ragnarok of our time? Kurt Cobain the next great martyr in the tradition of Jesus, Odin and Prometheus. Is TomKat the new Aeneas, forging a new Roman Empire in the image of L Ron Hubbard, the media as Virgil, compliantly documenting all the adventure and romance?
