Dinner itself would have to wait as the two men Ellis kidnapped finally came to. This was a different room from David was used to because it wasn't part of their penthouse apartment...They only had a second to glimpse at the torture room until they were blindfolded.

The whole place was covered in clear and black plastic wrap, to catch any blood or ( Read more... )

Nick told him to stay silent and just listen unless he was addressed directly, and he's gonna try to do exactly that. But it's not easy.

Part of him wants to be right there with Nick. There's something strangely vindicating about having two of the men who've been following them for weeks at their mercy like this. To see them scared for a change. But at the same time, there's a part of him that worries they might have made a mistake. That somehow they'll be tracked here. He tells himself he's being paranoid. He and Ellis both searched the men thoroughly for any tracking devices, and made sure to take the batteries out of their cell phones. Nick had even given the men a once-over after they were done, while he was tying them to their seats. There's no way all three of them could have missed something ( ... )

Nick takes his time making sure every detail is right for what's in store for them. Mr. Prude will find that his rendezvous with his mistress has been postponed by him being under the weather while the brat's doing overnight surveillance, he explained matter-of-factly as he tied them. Ellis was against torture but the fact that their Horsemen personalities/entities were coming out one time too many for their tastes...

"We'll see, but for every question you don't answer with the utmost truth, I'm cutting something off," the gambler warned, "and they will be things you will miss. First off, why are you following us?"

"We were hired to follow you, of course." the younger man explains before Mr. Prude him off with a glare. Poker Face doesn't look quite so steady after that, and he lets Mr. Prude pick up where he left off.

"We are private investigators hired by the government to track suspicious parties," Mr. Prude sniffs, ".... which you and your friends obviously are. You can kill us, but our deaths will send a message. This is no safe haven for you anymore, and killing us won't change that."

David is letting Nick do the talking, but he's listening to everything just the same. He figures Mr. Prude is blowing smoke... something about the way he says it. He's also hiding something about his employers, that's obvious. He looks to see if Nick got it; as ever, the conman's already a few steps ahead of him.

Nick's calm and he even has a little swagger to his walk as he gets the knife. He sharpens the blade besides Mr. Prude's ears, securing his position as the dominant force once he spots that involuntary tick of terror. And just for fun, the conman even glides it across the man's throat, flat side of course ( ... )
