1. well, had a relatively uneventful weekend except that I DID go and see The Brother's Grimm saturday night. and you know what? I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. it wasn't quite as I expected it to be, actually. the entire thing was just very, very fairytale-ish and imaginative! not at all like I imagined it. they went a lot further ( Read more... )

First off, what a great icon! Is that from PoA? I've never seen that one.

Second, on book recs: I say read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's a series, and I'm reading it right now. If you read it, I'll have one more person to chat with about it! And, it's good.

Thanks! I think so too. ;) And yes, it is from PoA. It's when Harry is under his invisibility cloak, listening to the convo between McGonagall, Fudge and Rosmerta in the Three Broomsticks.

Oh yeah, I've sort of been following your posts about this book. I'll definitely be adding it to my list. :) Though I remember there being another book you recc'd a while ago that I was rather interested in. Hmmm. I can't really remember what the title was, though I DO remember asking you who the author was. I'll have to browse through your back posts. Anyway, thanks for the rec! I'll let you know if/when I pick it up. :)

You could read some of Gregory Maguire's other books, such as "Confessions of an Ugly Step-Sister" or "Lost" (which is about Scrooge).

In the same vein as Wicked are "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore which is so funny and touching you'll be thanking me for months for recommending it.

Oh, yay! :) I was hoping someone would rec some of his other books! I was actually considering checking those out. If I do pick one up, which one of those two would you recommend first?

*laughs*

Lovely! I'll add it to my list. Will let you know when I get to it. *g* Thanks, Lori!

Why yes, it was. ;) And I have not forgotten it on my list. Though I'm sort of browzing through any possible alternative options, see what I'm in the mood to read next. But I will definitely let you know if/when I do pick it up. Thanks again for the rec, babe!

Oh. God. I'm so weird about books. I haven't read a good book for a very, very long time. Wah.

Brother's Grimm sounds like it's good. Thanks for the review. You seem to have a similar taste in movies and it's definitely one I thought I might like to see.

Heh. Aw, so'kay. I mean, hey! You're a very, very busy author! Doing all that writing is bound to take up lots of your time. ;) And that being so, I am definitely NOT complaining. *grins* Besides, it's only because it's the summer that I even have the time to do any reading! Once school starts again for me, it'll be books back on the shelves. *sigh* So yeah, don't feel too bad. :)

The Brother's Grimm was very good. And speaking of having similar tastes in movies, it's interesting that you mentioned that because we DID both love The Island so.. But yeah, you really should check it out once you get a chance!
