Cons in 2007?

So, I'm assuming there will be no general East Coast slash cons in 2007? No information forthcoming from either ConneXions or con*txt since last spring, as far as I've been able to find.

Does anyone have any idea if there's something in the works for 2008?

You just need to look in the right places ;-)

If you go back in connexions and read the posts on the first page, dated in late June, you'll see Martha announcing that the con is on for the last weekend in March '07.

The site hasn't been updated yet, but Martha also had some posts up in October over at the Connexions Yahoo Group.

Hm. That really doesn’t help me make plans, though - especially for March, which is right around the corner. Plans are underway, but no registration? Is this absolutely firm, or still in the discussion stages? Last I did hear, there was some discussion of rethinking the hotel - which would be a huge factor in my decision making. Has that been underway, do you know? I remember a conversations starting here last spring when this became the official LJ home for ConneXions, but don’t see where anything was settled.

Presumably Martha will be busy dealing with the holidays, which means the soonest we can hope for official confirmation and registration to open is January. For a con slated for the end of March?

Seems.... strange, and not at all how they’ve done it in the past.

I pointed to all the information that I have. And I agree, having confirmed con plans now would be better but since it is all avolunteer effort things don't always go as smoothly as we might like.

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions - the con is dead (which is a little rude to post in the con blog); Martha is off-line until January. Making a post with your questions about the con or sending an e-mail to Martha or the yahoo group might be a better way to get answers.

I never said the con was dead, but I think it was a reasonable assumption that another year was being skipped - just as it was last year - because no new announcements have been made, and it’s getting a bit close to the end of the year, which has always been the end of the first wave of registration in the past. In fact, my issue is that the con is on - but you wouldn’t know that from either the list or the LJ comm..

Sorry if I came across as rude. That certainly wasn’t my intension, but I am a little frustrated with the way information is not forthcoming - particularly now that it’s been pointed out to me that a con in 2007 is a done deal.

Making a post with your questions about the con or sending an e-mail to Martha or the yahoo group might be a better way to get answers.Which is exactly what I thought I was doing ( ... )
