I don't know if you or I am more amazed that I read the whole thing. :)

But I completely understand. As we get closer and closer to the end of the (school) year, I just cannot wait for summer. That freedom, when you get to sleep in all the time and do what you want to do... it's amazing.

I used to want to teach young kids. Maybe if I ever get back to that, I'll teach my students your lessons. I'll teach them about having fun, no homework, swinging as high as you can, and shoving Jimmy right back when he pushes you. I'll teach them about taking an extra piece of candy or two ('cause it won't kill you when you're seven), about diversity and open-mindedness and accepting people for who they are. Kids don't learn the right lessons. I don't think high schoolers, or even college students are taught the right lessons.

I think we learn through experience, and if we fall flat on our face, then we'll be a better person for it.

... I'm done ranting back at you now. :)

ah, yes. this was a lesson that i had to learn the hard way-- how to cure takingschooltooseriousitis. oofie, you and i are a lot alike in the way that we think and the way that we choose to deal with things. if you look back three or four years in my livejournal, there's probably an entry that is eerily like this one. what we learn is is that if you're smart-- and you are-- school will take care of itself. don't stop working hard and don't take for granted that you'll get good grades, but trust yourself and relax. easier said than done, that's for sure. but if you stress, it just makes the work that much harder. just know that you can handle it. having a positive attitude before you try to tackle things will make it less tedious and begrudging. yeah, math homework is always going to suck, and yeah, you're not always going to want to write that paper. but as you're writing them, think about this-- it'll be over as soon as you're done. tomorrow will come and that paper or assignment or whatever will not be there anymore. and eventually ( ... )
