Despite the tattoo-like mark on his left wrist (one that was disturbingly similar to the criminal marker on his face), Yuusei decided to wear his leather gloves outside of the hotel. The reason for that could be he didn't feel comfortable with his birthmark being exposed. Or maybe he was just used to wearing gloves. Or maybe both. He didn't intend to wander around the city for a long time anyway.
He had been told they were supposed to rest there, but Yuusei wasn't a kind of person who would consider not doing anything productive as "relaxing". Nevertheless, not being able to do anything about it, he just walked down a street without any purpose, his mind preoccupied with speculations about what was happening back where he had come from - namely, in Satellite.
His train of thought was disrupted by an odd sound, which was apparently coming from behind him. He turned around to find its source and immediately realized he had reached the local training grounds.
Her warm-up was simple enough- three repetitions of thirty snaps of her whip, alternating between overhead, backhand and underhand maneuvers. They were all done as she remained stationary, the heels of her boots dug deep into the earth as she brought her whip down against the ground. To her dismay though, during the third repetition she could begin to feel a dull ache traveling through her dominate arm, the muscles far more tense than usual- an automatic reaction of her body to the absence of magic which usually enhanced her physical condition. She refused to cease such a simple exercise though, her pride forcing her to complete the rest of the repetition

The whip was an interesting weapon to train with, the method of practicing rather unconventional compared to artillery or the typical sword- it wasn't as straightforward as shooting a bullet, nor as frantic as rushing with a blade. A long range weapon, its reach usually required the wielder to remain stationary, though experience in the battlefield had proven to Quistis that the incorporation of footwork was vital- enemies never stayed still, and the lack of movement would render her into a sitting duck. After a few testing snaps of her whip, Quistis began a slow and steady sidestep around a tree stump as she attempted to lash the leather against the trunk with accuracy while remaining mobile
