It's been said, but 'The voice says I'm almost out of minutes.' Also poor Cas' dejection and presumably waiting in the cold and wet for exactly four hours until conveniently rescuing Dean at a useful moment.
A query: Why HAVE the demons kept the Colt around? They've kept it secret, but we see that even five years in the future and under Lucifer's rule they still have it. Why is it so valuable? Why haven't they melted it down? INQUIRING MINDS WISH TO KNOW
Cas is getting lovely sarcastic with Dean's influence. Between Sam's exasperation and Cas' dry sarcasm, I love the world.
I also love that the first thing Sam does after being visited by Lucifer is CALL BIG BROTHER. Seriously, though, Dean. I'm not sure where Kripke's trying to push you with this 'I should be alone' character development - I do not like it. Also, we have ALL seen what goes down when you and Sam aren't together! Little thing like the devil getting out of hell? APART YOU ARE BOTH CRAZY. BE A GOOD BROTHER AND TAKE YOUR LITTLE BRO BACK (kudos for realizing this at the end).
Poor Sam desperately seeking redemption. I felt that somewhere in this convo. should have been an 'I love you' on Dean's side. Its absence threw me off, just as I felt Dean should have hugged Cas in 5.01.
Creepy little girl coughing blood, I assume you were a trap. Also, very 28 Days Later. Hate those fast mobs. Love the shaky cam. And Palin being the pres. is certainly a sign of End of Times.
Dean's upset at Impala's fate is beauty. I initially thought that being pulled from the past, Dean hadn't made it to 2014. I assumed someone had picked the Impala up after he'd gone missing. Seeing 2014!Dean was jarring, mostly because I was going 'How did you let this happen to your baby!'
I knew Dean was kinky! Love the satin panties. Love Dean's 'You weren't there with him?' re: Sam's death.
Oh, Chuck. You are the HR guy of the future! Clipboard FTW! And his little salute as they head off to die! Chuck, you've really risen to the occasion. And you seem sober! Also, can we not have the token female always in love with Dean (not that she seemed especially to care)? It's a little trying. And I know that Bobby's dead (really like the subtlety of that scene, btw), but what about Ellen and Jo? I'd really rather have Ellen running this op. than Dean, tbh. Hilarity moment; first saw 'Jane' as 'Jayne' a la Firefly, and wondered if the apocalypse had REALLY loosened Dean up. Also (I use that word too often) really hate that Dean's saying 'chick things' like 'having connections'. Dean being a man-slut I'm fine with. Trying to manipulate women emotionally? Dick maneuver beyond your norm, Deano.
My first thought upon Cas was, 'OMG he's discovered sex!' Then he mentioned an orgy and I think my brain exploded a little. Also, winking at his 'fearless leader' (which he calls Dean twice!).
Dean: What are you, stoned?
Cas: Generally, yeah.
Liz: Oh, shit, he's human.
But thankfully he goes back to sounding more like Castiel while speaking to Dean. Also, on that human note, where the hell is Jimmy? I expected Dean to ask that while in the car with Cas, and nada. And Cas' substance abuse (amphetamines to offset absinthe? uppers to offset downers? Cas!) is really indicative of how little he likes being human. I find it a little upsetting (probably just in my shipping heart of hearts) that Cas hates his new status, but I'm holding to the idea that maybe he could appreciate being human more if he wasn't living post-apocalypse. He goes to claim 'mostly human' and I want that clarified. I also choose to believe Cas isn't stuck to human notions of sexuality (even if Jimmy was straight, Cas' brain) and has sex with guys, too - Look, I want it, okay!?). Dean telling him to never change gives me the hope they'll have a stronger relationship as time goes on. But I wonder how Cas can get so many narcotics if toilet paper is hard.
The whole torture scene is funny. Fearless leader again, like that Cas says he's 'all too well versed' because he's gotta remember that Alistair mess and what it did to Dean. The fact that Dean's doing this willingly now? Depressing. But! To the rescue is Cas' insolent 'What? I like past-you.' This is the Dean that got him to rebel against Heaven. 'Insouciant' is not a word I knew. Go Cas. And his 'of course I'm coming.'
I knew the guy in white was Sam, but my first thought was still, 'Ugly boots, Lucifer!' Kristen, you'll have to tell me if that's reasonable. Big kudos to Jared, though! He didn't seem like Sam at all to me. Probably because he had such reserved facial expressions, and I know Sam couldn't say such things to Dean while Dean just stood there, silently crying (which was beautiful and hard to watch, btw). He also reminded me of Lex Luthor in Smallville when he sees his future, and metaphorically he's dressed in a while suit while the sky rains blood.
Okay, I knew Lucifer hated humans, that's why he got kicked out of Heaven (what's this about loving God too much? Shut it!), and apparently he thinks Earth is a paradise. Plan = erase humans, rule demons on Earth? P.S. where did the angels even go? WHY CAN'T THEY DO THAT NOW?
OMG, Sam, you are so beautiful with this quiet inner strength. Can you get that back soon? I'm sick of hunched over, hating self!Sam. He's unhappy, and unlike Ackles, I've never liked unhappy Padalecki. Not as beautifully broken.
And at the end, that heavenly (I mean this literally) music as Sam and Dean reunite? And 'I won't let you down,' and 'Oh, I know it.' LUUURVE WILL SAVE THE WORLD. BOYS, WHY WON'T YOU HUG? FOR ME?
Okay, I think I'm done. Why did I spend an hour writing this instead of that paper I've got due Monday?
