Austria trip day eleven

Sep 25, 2012 14:38

Today is the eleventh day. There are, I believe, four days left. I want to go home. Not gonna lie about that.

Dad and I walked to the park near the rental house at 6:30 in the morning and watched the sun come up. I don't know if it was worth it. Visibility was not that great and the fog didn't burn off until it was too late, so all of the pictures I took came out looking like shit.

Dad seemed to enjoy himself, though. He's used to getting up early.

I went back to sleep when we got back to the house. That was the right decision, I think, because I'm still tired. I think I'm getting a cold. Or I already have a cold. I don't know.

Mom was sick, but Isaac, dad, and I went to Ebensee and took a gondola up to the top of a mountain. Or the top-ish. I don't know.

Dad and Isaac hiked up the rest of the mountain. I didn't, because there was no way in hell I'd make it to the top. So I stayed at a restaurant near the gondola exit and had hot cocoa and drew pictures of airships and my airship captain character. I've been trying to get old character designs down right. I've been doing a lot of things like that since I stopped working on my long story. It's good. I made the right choice, I think. I ought to have made it sooner.

The view from where I was was incredible. There are a lot of incredible views out here, just. . .not at the park during sunrise. I both took and drew pictures of it. I think I did a pretty good job, considering these are the first landscapes I've drawn in practically ever.

Dad and Isaac came back after about an hour and a half. Isaac had ice cream and I drew those landscapes and then Isaac and I spent the rest of the drive back listing words in alphabetical order.

Mom was still sleeping when we got back. Whatever she's got, it doesn't look like fun.

She's too sick to cook, so we're having pizza. Dad is out getting it now.

I'm listening to my YouTube playlist from last year and the year before. I had better music taste than I remembered. Either that, or these headphones just make everything sound better somehow.

Tomorrow we're driving to Velden, where dad is giving his speech. Then we won't be going sightseeing much. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get some work done.
