Austria trip day fifteen--home

Sep 29, 2012 23:31

Today was most firmly and certainly a travel day. I haven't slept in a bed (or at all, really) for about twenty hours, so please forgive me if I make no sense whatsoever.

I'm home. We made it home. I'm fat and spotty and so sleep-deprived I thought it was a good idea to sing Bohemian Rhapsody on the way out of Customs, but I'm home. Thank fucking god.
The day started at 7am Austria time. We finished packing, ate breakfast, checked out of the hotel, and then drove for three and a half hours to the Vienna airport. We tried to buy lunch in the airport there, but it was terrible and nobody really wanted to eat it. There were separate ventilated booths for the smokers, which I had never seen before.

We took a plane from Vienna to London. British Airways planes play waltz music over the intercom while they're taxiing.

When we arrived in Heathrow I received an anxiety-inducing pat-down and bought a book and then we sat in the Admiral's club for fifteen minutes harvesting little cheese packets and vacuum-sealed crackers and tiny soda cans.

Then came the fun part. Oh yes.
We got onto the plane in Heathrow and then sat on the plane as it flew through the air to Boston for eight hours. Or seven hours. I don't know. Either way, it was a long time. We flew into the sunset, which meant that the pink clouds and rainbow sky gradient lasted for a few hours instead of half an hour like usual. The woman in the aisle across from me and up one row had no arms. She did everything with her feet. She used an iPad with her feet. I had never seen anything like that before.

The flight home was not that terrible, I guess, except that it was so incredibly long. I read the entirety of the book I bought in Heathrow (486 pages), drew a little, played iPad Scrabble with dad, and did some writing/character design stuff on my computer. I did not have an emotional breakdown like I did on the flight to Austria, but I will admit that I did tear up a bit. I'M GOOD AT WRITING OKAY THAT'S WHY THAT HAPPENED
TOTALLY
Anyways, after we arrived in Boston we went through passport security and Customs. By that point we were all dying of exhaustion a bit, especially Isaac. We took a taxi home and now we're all dying in our beds instead of in an airplane or a taxi. We have taken so many modes of transportation in the past two weeks it is bordering on irrational.

I'm glad to be home. It will be good to sleep in my own bed and better to see Kay tomorrow.
Now I'm going to go to sleep before I forcibly become unconscious on top of my keyboard. It is five in the morning in my brain.
