Back in the early 1900s and before, hospitals or care institutions existed. Think of the hospitals and "retreats" that existed for the upper class, and they weren't the only ones. And often these were found by religious people and constructed by them as well, not "intended" as a religious place but RUN like one. Often not saying it was religious

It was only recently I learned of Christian hate which I see too much of in America and directly from churches at times. Your post makes a lot of sense thanks for sharing.
