We have learned nothing as a nation

How can we possibly elect an African-American to the presidency and legalize discrimination on the same night?! Have we learned nothing as a nation? I have gay and lesbian friends. If they love each other, they should have the right to marry. I was listening to reaction on the radio yesterday and I had to turn it off because I became so angry ( Read more... )

Y'know, when I would openly discuss this, some of my mom friends would drop their voices. I would always be like, it's okay, gay isn't a 4 letter word. And they would say that the discussion made them uncomfortable when it was in front of kids. I could never understand that. Me, who goes a thousand shades of pink when I have to have "the talk" with my kid. It never occurred to me that discussing equality had ANYTHING to do with "the talk". To me, it is a discussion likened to the one about why we no longer tolerate separate water fountains or forcing people to the back of the bus.

Is it because people feel homosexual couples will "produce" homosexual children? Um, hello!! If that were the case, how do you explain homosexual people being "produced" by heterosexual families.

If only homosexual couples produced homosexual children, homosexual people would have died out before they existed.

"Marriage is not about sex!" What? Is confuzzled. No one told me and Mr. Dexy! :D

Srsly, I do not understand the ridiculosity of it all to the point I had to make up a word. It is especially odd to me that the Mormon Church, with the history of polygamy that is not accepted in our culture now, can say it's okay for one man to have multiple wives-- but not for two men or women to be married. IMO, if it's an arrangement between consenting adults, it's none of the government's business.
