This week I have mostly been irrationally cheerful. I think it's the weather. It wouldn't do my housing estate any harm to be submerged under a few foot of water and it's looking increasingly likely. Get rid of a few of my more obnoxious neighbours. I'm planning on watching them drown from my cosy third floor flat. The clouds outside look

Brilliant! You live in Oxford, don't you? The kites are definitely spreading.

I live near the Mini factory, about a housing estate and a half from open country, and there's three kites that regularly circle overhead. They seem to be quite urban, I've seen them land on balcony railings and even bins. This years foxes.

Wonderful! Of course they're basically scavengers so if you put scraps out they'd probably come and eat them.

Curiouser and curiouser. I'm assuming that Spike is controlled by the First, but its purpose in rousing Buffy's suspicions is beyond me. And since his memory is suspect at best, it's hard to tell if he has a soul and doesn't remember getting it, or not. Presumably Anya could tell, but I don't remember off-hand if Anya's seen him in person. I'll have to go back and re-read. And if he doesn't have a soul, would the First even be interested? Of course, it was never clear why the First was interested in souled vampires, so...

You've completely sucked me into this! I'd been avoiding new WIPs for so long, and then a few weeks ago (maybe a couple of months?) I read the previous chapters on a complete fic binge, but didn't intend to come back again. But I couldn't help myself! I love the denseness you've got going, with Buffy actually thinking things through. And it's so nice not to have either her or Spike immediately assume (without any real reason) that there must be some sort of doppelgänger on the prowl. And Dawn's great too! :D

Catching up on a few chapters all at once can be so satisfying. Until you reach the end and realize your stay in that particular universe has been put on hold for a while.
