This is the sappiest and possibly the crappest thing I've ever written. At least, the sappiest and crappest thing I've ever posted. But it's definitely slash. Genuine, unequivocal man-on-man action. I'm very stoned right now, btw. That won't exactly serve as an excuse, because I wasn't stoned when I wrote most of it, but it's my excuse for ( Read more... )

fails to discern crap I made Sam into such a wimp. He's a lot of annoying things on screen but he's not wet, I made him wet on purpose for the convenience of my sexual tension and that makes me a bad writer. Though, somehow, I'm managing not to feel guilty:)
Glad you enjoyed it.

Ooh, good stuff! I love the classic setup where, gosh, I'm drunk and now I need a place to stay. You've given it new life with Sam and Gene's two-year separation. The hint of the 80s, the shift to London, all lovely subtle bits of layering and texture in the story.

I thought this was an exceptionally nice piece of characterization:

It was just so incongruous, the tea and the daylight and the easy bickering, everything familiar except that one things that was radically different. He'd expected, now the Dutch courage had more or less evaporated, that things that had felt natural last night would be awkward or ignored this morning. And Sam had been willing to accept that, was happy enough, wouldn't have wanted to trade the friendship for sex. He should have known better really, had never seen Gene awkward before, it would be a bigger shock than the sudden discovery of his sexual orientation.

Because it's so true! It actually would be more astonishing to see Gene awkward than to find out he likes men.

Great work, fun story, funny and

On a random tour of the internets and their Gene/Sam fic while the S1 DVD wings its way over to me, held up, no doubt, by the inconvenience of Xmas. This, my dear, is absolutely wonderful. I'm such a sucker for first-time fics, and this one is one of the best I've read. I very well done - and a merry xmas!
