[ History ] :
Here is a wiki link for the history of the ancestors in Homestuck! Information is a bit scant as the Ancestors have only had pretty minor appearances in canon thus far. The gist of it is, though, that the Disciple was a devout follower of the Signless’ teachings, and eventually the two of them became lovers (or something). After the Signless was executed, the Disciple managed to abscond with the Signless’ Leggings (the troll equivalent to the Veil of Veronica) due to the mercy shown to her by the E%ecutor. She took to living in caves and writing down the Signless’ teachings upon cave walls in the blood of animals that she killed. It’s due to these writings that the Signless’ creed is able to persist.
[ Personality ] :
Troll ancestors are very similar to their descendants in many ways, and the Disciple is no exception, being the ancestor of one Nepeta Leijon. The Disciple is animated and just a little eccentric, as well as unshakably loyal to the point of self-destruction. It can be assumed that, like Nepeta, the Disciple is a very skilled and experienced huntress due to the fact that she recorded the teachings of the Signless in blood on the walls of the caves in which she inhabited. Unlike her descendant, however, the Disciple isn’t as talkative when it comes to verbal communication; she prefers to save her words for her writing.
Prior to the death of the Signless, the Disciple’s bright disposition prevailed during her travels with the Signless and his other followers. She truly believed in his words, and she dutifully recorded them as he spoke of his visions. Writing was an undeniable passion of hers, and she was quite proficient at it, capable of inscribing pages upon pages of spoken word without missing a syllable. The Disciple is a near-gratingly optimistic individual, and as such she was no doubt the bright spot in the rather serious troupe of followers that the Signless amassed.
Aside from listening to just the Signless’ teachings, the Disciple was always willing to listen to the Signless’ words, be them about his concerns for his people or otherwise. It’s no great stretch to imagine how and why they came to be together when taking this fact into account, and their love was so great that it supposedly surpassed the four quadrants of troll romance. (Whatever that nonsense even means.)
The Signless’ sermons consisted of teachings of peace and the end of the oppression of the blood caste, and the Disciple clearly took these beliefs to heart. As great a huntress as she is, she is a firm believer in nonviolence, and this is more than apparent in the face of the Signless’ death. Grief-stricken as she was at losing both her lover and leader, she made no effort to harm the people who put him to death, opting instead to take his Leggings and escape a similar fate at the opportunity provided to her by one E%ecutor Darkleer.
Having taken to a life of solitude, the Disciple is withdrawn and reticent, though not completely unapproachable. She is still friendly and inquisitive, though much more subdued; she has taken a solemn vow to quietly continue the spread of the Signless’ teachings, and she intends to do so until the day she dies. Unsurprisingly, she mourns the loss of the great love of her life and the bright, lively aspect of her personality has dimmed, though glimmers of it can still be seen from time to time when she is faced with something that interests her.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
As mentioned above, the Disciple is a proficient huntress, specializing in the use of clawed weapons in order to take down her prey. She is also a talented writer as well as a bit of an artist, though her drawings aren't much more than doodles alongside her recordings of the Signless' teachings.
In terms of weaknesses, the Disciple isn't one to fight, preferring to abscond and go into hiding rather than engaging in combat head-on. Having been free from contact with any other troll for a little over a sweep, she may appear to be bit awkward when interacting socially, as she leads a rather lonely existence! Also, while she is rather quick on her feet, her physical strength is pretty average.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
The Disciple definitely won't be a big fan of some of the highblooded trolls in Vath; the term “apprehensive” won't even begin to describe the attitude she will take towards them due to her prior experiences with them (rather, their ancestors) in the canonpoint I'm yoinking her from. She'll probably steer clear of them, for the most part, though she might give their descendants a chance if they seem kind enough.
