John tries not to think about the old days, the glory days, because when he does he's forced to realise how far he's fallen.
And you were John Constantine...
He doesn't like to be reminded of it, even though the evidence of too many years spent doing too little good stares back at him from the mirror every day. It was better in the old days. Back when they were young and brave and invincible and...stupid.

But it was justifiable back then. Before Newcastle, before Astra, before Ravenscar. Back then he knew he was the best, would have taken on anything without thinking twice. Where had everything gone wrong? How had he come to this; a bitter, dying veteran of a war no-one knew was being fought?. He'd been better than this...
