Ok. SO. I have an interview with pizza pizza call centre tomorrow. the job is good, clean, and not in fast food. THere are 24 hours of paid training. it's only part time (i was hoping to get full), but if i worked it during the school year things would still work out. the problem is I have a couple of application out to other more desirable jobs, ( Read more... )

we already had a long talk about this so you know what I think. I say take the pizza pizza job and dump it if you get something better. Nobodies feelings will be hurt.

Also, after you pass your probationary hours period, you will probably be able to get more then 15/ per week, especially if you stay till after the summer when lots of people leave (ironically though, you'll probably want to stay at about 15 hours if you're going to school...rendering this paragraph questionably useful)

If you need more hours during the week you can always pick up a few shifts (people give them out often enough). I say go for it, and don't sweat it too much. If you get one of the better offers, take it and stick it to the (dear) pizza pizza man.

/agree.

The pizzapizza call centre must have a really high turnover rate for staff, I don't think it'll matter.

Don't tell them. In theory, you don't know if you'll get called for the other ones. You're not omitting truth because there's no truth to omit, people always apply for jobs at multiple places.

Allison - the call centre must have a massive turnover rate. Don't feel bad about ditching them later on. It's definitely a far better position than anything else involving the phone, as people actually want to hear you.

And how did you find the curatorial assistant job? :p

there's two positions for curatorial assitants on the mcmaster careers website. if your school has a careers site, try searching jobs in Mount Hope and Burlington and these two might pop up.

Our Careers site only does Toronto jobs, listed through us... so I can't search anywhere else -- can I get onto Macs?

I work at a call centre now and the turnover rate is nuts. If you quit it's not like they'll be devestated or anything. I say go with option 2 for the reasons that have been listed above. Don't say it may be temp in your interview because if for some reason you dont hear from the more desireable jobs you may be kicking yourself in the ass later if you dont get the pizza pizza one.

If you also happen to find that you like working in a call centre (though i think PP is incoming while Mac's is outgoing).....Mac hires student callers all the time. The really great thing is, I'm not sure if this is the same with pizza pizza, is that you pick the shifts you want to work and that's the same every week (fantastical with school). Even if you get one of the desirable jobs and its only for the summer and you need a fall job, apply. The money is good (just got a 17% or so raise too) and they're nice and flexible.
