I actually didn't know any of that. Not that American schools teach much Latin nowadays (although apparently my mother took it back in her day).

Raffles knows he has the pick of the litter with Bunny--even if he's a little geeky sometimes. :)

I couldn't do Latin at school either, only started it at the end of my History degree as necessary for continuing with medieval history.

Sorry, got a bit literal there with the ides of March. I just love the idea that the Roman calendar counted backwards. You wonder how the Roman empire lasted so long, really. Was bad enough counting the years backwards in the BC era. ;)

Excellent foreshadowing and I love the calendar lesson. Poor Bunny thinks his only value is as Raffles' friend - but we know he needs more than that.

I'm going to direct blackletter to this fic. He's a classics genius and will love it.

Thanks, and I'm so flattered that you've passed this on to a friend.

Needs should have read "means" in my comment. I'm sorry about that.

Ah, how romantic. Nice that at least someone appreciates Bunny. Then again, Raffles was always a fanboy for Bunny's verse at school, so not much has changed. *g*

The Roman calendar sounds more interesting than our own. Confusing, though!

Well you know how self-effacing Bunny can be. But Raffles appreciates him all the same.

I finally got around to reading some of the backlog in my "Fics to read" bookmark file, and I love this one! It's strangely reminiscent of some parties I've been to (with me usually being the pedantic one trying to give a lecture in mid-Bacchanalia.)

At least Raffles appreciates Bunny's knowledge of the Roman calendar.
