In my thoughts and on my mind

Time: The true currency of life. It often feels scarce. Is there enough to do everything I want to do? Can I be more efficient with my time? Do I want to be? Less wasteful? More productive? Imbue more moments with more meaning more frequently? Do you feel satisfied with how you spend your time?
Is it all about the XP ( Read more... )

Obviously! How else are you gonna level up?

Ooo, yeah. I want to level up! It'd sure be convenient to have a character sheet and be able to clearly indicate where I want to apply my XP. :)

Well said. How many of us have houses and closets full of stuff we rarely look at?

Will Rogers says it well:

"Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save."

Nice quotation.
I don't think the rushing is saving me much time. The thing that seems to save me the most time is simply realizing I don't actually have to do what I thought I had to do. You taught me that. :)

I think a lot can be gained in the moments between. Savor that smell of the morning coffee, take that hour in the sun just to sit. REALLY ACTUALLY stop and smell the flowers. . . just the little things.

And friends. Friends are experiences that walk around and can hug you. :)

Absolutely! Enjoy what you have while you have it.

Ooo, nice way of describing friends! The one thing I try to never short-change, if I can help it: time with the people in my life.

Yep, go for the XP when you can. The stuff is secondary to the doing. And when you can, do it in person! :-)

The reason that I do not play or chat or do most other stuff online (except gape at the weird and beautiful stuff that is out there) is because I like the face-to-face experience. I am rather shy, but I relish the moments I spend with others when something cool or incredible is happening.

This really hit me on my honeymoon, as dansr and I genuinely shared that time with each other. Always fun? Generally, but there were a few bumps. But there is nothing that would compel me to want to forget that experience or part with the feelings that it gave me, and gives me to this day.

XP is all about hard contact with others. Sometimes, just with yourself :-). SO take any chance you have to get some!

You are SO right! Do it in person, when you can. I really like that sentiment.

Lately, I try more and more to combine doing the things I like to do with the people that I like to spend time with who like to do the same things. Why walk alone, when I can walk with great company?
