This is one of the lamest stories I have ever seen in the NYT. I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't the Onion. Poor, poor, consumer people: OH NOES! They don't know how to fix their toilet! They can't shave their own bikini line! They did their own hair and it came out badlySo what's your point, NYT? Don't Do It At Home, kids, get out ( Read more... )

GAH! The world is going to hell! royalbananafish May 16 2009, 21:30:56 UTC
It amazes me that people are so clueless and helpless, even when it comes to the most basic things. While I am no jill-of-all-trades, and I am certain the Firefox people would laugh their heads off at all of the things I can't do, I'm still amazed at how dumb and incompetent people seem to be ( ... )

I am flat out astounded that there is an adult who doesn't know their way around the inside of a frakkin' toilet, not to mention the other skills you list. There are all kinds of things I don't know how to do and I'm sure some of them are things that are easy for other people, but if I want to learn how, I've got a clue about how to find out. I just don't want to.

See here, speaking of bizarre incompetence. I worry for people, I honestly do. When told that it was just in reference to the robber as vermin, as in, much like a rat or a roach, the officer told him ( ... )

I also never re-freeze food but R's parents insist it is ok after it has changed it's state, like if you defrost meat and cook it, it's ok to freeze it again. I won't re-freeze it anyway, but wonder about it sometimes.

I think R's parents are correct in this case.

It's actually not unsafe to refreeze raw food; it dehydrates the food and it will not taste as good or have pleasant texture afterward.
