reap or wrap

We have a little snow predicted in our near future but I'm hoping my basil can soldier on anyway. There were at least a couple of mornings recently when I had to scrape ice off my windshield, and the basil persevered...and I really didn't want to spend the evening making pesto, so, I'm feeling lucky and I've built the basil bed a little ghetto ( Read more... )

If you find it frozen tomorrow you could always just pack it all in a ziplock with olive oil, or ice cube trays with olive oil and tip out to the ziplock little basil portions. Hates to waste it!

wrap might help for tonight, but tomorrow night it's to get into the low 20s. I would think at that temp with or without snow, the basil would be done for.

I tend to take this stuff one day at a time. As of this morning, most of the basil is still happy and green.

I've had basil survive nicely when wrapped with a few strands of christmas tree lights. my whole potted garden is aglow, and I end up with geckos there all winter long.
