is there any way to do an actual search on communities? I tried searching by interest, but it didn't show me any communities, just people, even when I started my search by clicking on some of photo_a_gogo's interests.

argh. how the hell do people find anything around here?

yeah, I looked at that, but what I was trying to say above is that the "search by interest" thing doesn't work -- every interest I've entered into the search box only returns a list of users, not communities. even when I searched for an interest that I KNOW is listed in a a community (photo_a_gogo, for instance), that community doesn't show up, just plain old users.

grumble. I guess I could read through those announce-y community journals, but I was hoping for something less time-consuming.

heh, no, I found that community. I was just using it as an example when I was trying to search, since I was trying to see if I could get any communities at all to show up in an interest search.

I totally agree! I don't know how to find communities that I may be interested in cuz I just can't seem to do it. And, now that I want to promotoe a community I have no idea how. Guess I'm not much help! If you learn something please let me know.

oh, I know this one! there's a lj community just for promoting communities, & if you go to the link langus gave & then look about halfway down the page, you'll see it.

(but, yk, I was just there, & it's really hard to tell if it actually gets any traffic.)
